I myself do not have much of a concentration span so it is pointless to even try to listen to music most of the time. I forget it is playing.

Only time it is useful is when trying to concentrate. Then repetitive tunes can help.

This is strictly "Music" though. I rarely listen to words, so I mostly don't bother with songs/nasheeds.

Ive gone back to listening to music. Thought i could give it up but its just tooo hard. I dont listen to music with swearing so no stinky 2 pac or 50 cent or G unit etc. I never actually use to listen to the lyrcis before but for some reason i have now an im actually quite :shock: at some of the stuff i have been listening to. I think as long as they aint singing about haraam things and swearing then whats the harm in it. Makes boring chores ie ironing and washing more bearable.

Music, yes listen to it. Just for chilling out. Would never get influenced by it (never use swear words, drink or club). It's just music, I dont take it too seriously.

I listen to Hip Hop and RnB. The best kind of music. What else is there? Come on, asian guys are gonna listen to Hip Hop and RnB, we not gonna listen to rock music screaming their lungs out or whatever. Guys are naturally aggressive (thats not always a bad thing), naturally competitive and thats what rap music is about.

Yes the swearing is an issue but there are ways round that, youtube! Censored versions lol. Its the chilled out hot beats from H/Hop and RnB that I really like.

I listen to rock well not heavy metal but rock and indie, yet im asian. I think you need to realise that not all asians listen to just rap and rnb, others do listen to other types of music.

I think the videos these days are just too, too crazy. Often I've heard a song and really like the sound and lyrics but have been totally surprised at the video. Nearly all types of music can interest me apart from the really heavy metal and indie stuff which to me is just noise. I've often heard really deep lyrics which I think are really positive but today the music business is just so concerned with image more than the actual sound.

i dont think most music today is worth listening to, some music just SOUNDS like shaitan :shock: (who invented things like techno!?) It might have a good beat, it passes the time, but it lacks the soul like most things i guess today :?

Also there are always so many better things you can be doing instead of listening to music or if it's on in the background then there is always better stuff to listen to. With a lot of contemporary stuff I think there is often a very fine line between 'good' and 'bad' music though.

And it isn't actually that hard to almost give up, talking from experience. I learnt I nearly always listened to music when bored, but now rarely have any time spare. Sometimes I listened to music just to chill out, but now I just find other ways to relax. I missed it a lot at first but then you quickly kind of get used to it not taking up so much of your time or that you actually no longer have so much time to actually sit down and just do nothing apart from listen to music.

I simply cant work out at the gym without music... its too hard to get into that right frame of mind. I get incredibly bored on the bus without music... unless i happen to pick up a paper which will keep me occupied.
And I simply cant do general studying without listening to something.

I dont really listen to much rap etc. I have very few tracks by Eminem or anything similar. I hate anything where theres alot of swearing etc.

I generally find nasheeds etc too boring. They just dont motivate me to do anything really.
