Celibacy Key to Long Life

Naz β€”
A BRITISH virgin who celebrated her 105th birthday this week said the secret to long life was celibacy, adding that she imagined sex was a "lot of hassle".
Clara Meadmore, who marked her birthday with a drop of wine at the Perran Bay nursing home in Cornwall, south-west England, also received a card from Queen Elizabeth II.

"People have asked me whether I am a homosexual and the answer is no," Ms Meadmore said.

"I have just never been interested in sex.

"I imagine there is a lot of hassle involved and I have always been busy doing other things."

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1903, Meadmore lived in Canada and New Zealand as a child before returning to Britain in her 20s to work as a secretary and housekeeper.

She served with the army in Egypt during World War II, and subsequently lived in London and New Zealand before retiring 40 years ago in Cornwall.
ps please can you not call me sister. It really bugs me when ppl do it.

I did it only after Amal pointed it out to me that my words
would certainly be offensive to a woman.

But now that you have clarified, I thank you for relieving me of this unnecessary stress.

I was concerned that I had hurt your soul.

As for calling you "sister", I do that on a very rare occasion; especially when
trying to make it up with a girl whom I believe I have harmed in any way.

Now,

Since you say I didnt hurt your feelings, I can now get back to normal and call you a dizzy cow.

Naz, are you un-insultable?

Holding an opinion (and freedom of speech) is all well and good, but NOT when it has the potential to cause harm. I am not a fan of an apathetic, hardened approach to things. Certain standards of behaviour towards women is looked down upon as outdated in today's society, but they need to be upheld, otherwise whats the difference? I really think that we need to uphold standards for ourselves.

I know how to crack a joke (or Id like to think so!) but certain jokes have their limits. I expect muslim girls to be treated with beautiful honour, respect, dignity and high level of adab, and be spoken to or joked with in a manner that befits them. Joking or otherwise, I do not expect muslim girls to be spoken to in a less worthy joking manner, or be jeered at, nor humiliated or insulted, especially by my brothers in islam. I know that Omrow did not go as far as that, (and I do not believe he would either), but I am making a point through an exaggerated polarisation of the two possible sides. I know its a bit of a romantisised view, but I expect only good from my brothers in Islam. Anything less would be less deserving of them, and less deserving for muslim girls.

Im really trying not to come across as a moany old woman lol (I know it seems like thats all i do  ) and I am not going out of my way to belittle men (honest!), but if we give a person an inch, they will take a mile. πŸ˜‰ Muhammad ο·Ί said that he came, except to perfect good character and/or refine manners.

I had the most horrific, frightening and unmentionable verbal harassment and abuse hurled at me recently. I did not and do not expect to be treated in that manner by anyone  , so did not have any qualms about reporting him to the police (even though the guy is muslim). The police will be paying him a visit on account of his very serious religious and sexual intimidation and harassment. He may hate women who wear hijab, but he needs to learn that he cannot mess with them.

I need to learn not to babble on so much lol.

Same here! I don't like the use of 'brothers' and 'sisters' ... nothing wrong wiht me intentions so i prefer if people use my name and i prefer using their name but c'mon you totally occlude out the person you're talking to by giving them the title ... it's absurd!
I dont think so. For me giving a girl the title of sister is a way for me to show my respect and approval. Plus it allows me to clearly define a line between us, so she or anyone else doesnt mis-read my intentions. Heck i even use it with non-muslim women.

So if i call you sister, i do it out of respect for you. And so you dont misunderstand my intent.
Hmm thats debateable.
em i know it's to do with respect (and making it clear to the opposite) and blah de blah... but but BUT, you can do that by using her or his name... and where is the 'misunderstandment'?

ppl need to work on their trusting and respecting without making it tooo obvious that you feel a fool listening to it all... i find it (not offencive but) i do mind it when someone comes up and calls me a sister even tho i aint! huh?
Exactly!
