Got a family wedding coming up-we have a small family so family weddings are very rare

EVERYONE is gonna be getting togther-apparently I even have family in Denmark so it be good to meet them and make fun out of their stupid accents

it be good to meet all the strangers-I'm looking forward to it-

today we gonna leave for Manchester for the Mehndi and on Sunday its gonna be the wedding

I'm REALLY looking forward to getting together with all my cousins and getting dressed up

thats the best part of weddings-I LOVE getting dressed up

I'll prob stay in Mancester for a week with my cousins-after London I think its the best place in UK

it'd be good to get out of depressing/messed up London for a bit Cray 2

I doubt I'll be able to post from there-but I'm sure I'll have LOTS to chat to u about when I get back

anyways be good and try not to miss me too much

yeh our family dont save either

daddy gets his wages monthly

we all get our pocket money monthly-first we take out a part for charity-cos if we dnt mum makes us feel guilty

then we spend the rest on what we want

in my family there's never been that concept of "pocket money" - if my siblings and i ever needed or wanted something, we'd ask our dad for the money and he'd usually give it to us. i think it taught us all to value money and spend it when we want to, but not too extravagantly. on my 16th birthday he put a lumpsum of money into my account... and i found that i was able to control myself - most of my friends would have gone all out and spent it in about a month, but i found that when i liked something and it turned out to be a rip-off i'd feel guilty enough to not buy it... i guess my dad has taught all of my siblings that "value for money" and i'm glad! Smile thats not to say i wouldnt go "all out" for Eid clothes or something though Wink and obviously there are times, like after my exams were over, that i just felt like spoiling myself so i did go on a little shopping spree... Biggrin

we're given pocket money so that we learn how to budget

when we're given a set amount of pockt money-we dont ask for any more even if we need it

partly cos I HATE asking people for money-even dad

we know to spend within our means and like u I also spoil myself only when I need to-like Eid or weddings

i'm leaving for a wedding

be back in a few hours

I'll fill all u girly's in when I get back

I think its kinda natural to see the couple and then decide how they look together..and in the process decide who is more nicer.

yeh i do that to lol Blum 3

I just heard that its forbidden for a woman to have shoulder length hair...her hair MUST be longer then that

apparently some Mufti said so

how tru is this

all I know is that a woman's hair can not resemble a mans and that she cant shave it

i heard the same thing...i also heard that women are not meant 2 cut their hair in the 1st place (dont know if trimming comes into that or not)!

i dont think thats tru tho

I've always kept my hair shoulder length-

long hair is difficult to manage

"MuslimSisLilSis" wrote:

true long hair is more difficult 2 manage...but im used 2 it so i dont mind

I have heard it meant to be up to your elbow length but mine are umm shorter than that but the shortest they have been are shoulder length, i grew mine cuz i was sick an tired of short hair but do agree longer hair are harder to manage..

Girls do u have any proof on that

thats the first time I've heard that

(dad does always say this to us-but we ignore him)

I've never hear any type of religious teacher say this

another Q

where can u get Sari pins?

"MuslimSisLilSis" wrote:

wot sari pins? u only need one big safety pin to stick the pleats in place, and mayb another if u want to pin the long bit to ur shoulder.

the one to pin up to keep the sari on ur shoulder

otherwise it just keeps slipping

LOL-I think a massive safety pin stuck to ur shoulder will just look ugly

lol, nah i meant a big one for the pleats, but tiny one for the shoulder if necessary. anyway there are many ways to wear a sari, so it depends which way u wanna wear it.

lol just go in2 an asian shop where they sell jewellery and other accessories and just ask them if they have any (my cuz got them frm some asian shop for us)

puttin on a sari is hard we had a lil help frm an indian friend

I got a sari the other day…….it’s so difficult to manage, it took days of practice to work out how to wear it.

But I cant get that bit which people drape over their shoulder to stay put….I can hold it but I have SO many little kids in my family….I’d feel more secure if it was pinned up to my shoulder.

We have so many Asian clothes shop here…I have yet to come across a Sari pin? Maybe I should ask a Hindu….

aint it pretty?

its a bangles stand and u can put bangles on the front and back

my cuz got that its pretty handy..i dont have many bangles, i like them but dnt wear them much..

muslimsis its true it can be a problem when you have a lot of kiddies in the family but i stayed away frm them, see its pure tricky to walk in a sari, lol i nearly tripped over more than twice!!

Agree with muslim kuri if you cant find a sari pin then just use a nice pretty brooch, it should do the trick..

wat colours are your saris?

The sari is peachy in colour, its so pretty...Lol-my first sari.

I will look for a brooch....I have TOO many litte kids in my family...I couldnt stay away from them even if I wanted to.

I keep on tripping over mine too for some reason...I don't know why, cos its not as if its too long for me?!

Its a really complicated dress to handle...

I didnt wear it in the last wedding cos I couldnt figure out how to wrap it round and feel confident that it'd stay put...

It's better to get those sari's with pleats already in them....they're more stress free.

i personally think havin somethin to pin up your sari is a must regardless of kids or not, trust me muslimsis i have more kids in my family than you guys do!!

I said i wasnt goin to ever wear a sari again (cuz it was 2 difficult to walk in) but my cuz bought me one frm pak its bright pink, its so lovely that i have to wear it, probs wear it on my sis wedin nxt yr...also sari’s look gorgus!!

I also have pleats in my sari saves so much hassle tryin to iron the pleats in (i think thats what u talkin bout)...good luck with the sari when u guys wear it, what colour sari u wearin lilsis?

She decided not to wear one...she reckons she's too short to pull it off.

And she isnt much of a fan of heels either...

"angel" wrote:

u gotta be tall and skinny to look good in a sari

at 5ft I dont think it suits me

what do u say to them people who say that a sari is a hindu dress?
