It was brill defo worth staying up till 12.15 to watch it when i should have been preparing for advocacy

It were pretty obvious that the girl Nasima was gonna be the terrorist from the start coz of some of the stuff she was saying.

The way they have potrayed the guy they have got it spot on. That is your average British Muslim (except they dont join M15).

Apprently the producer did a program like this a couple years back when the Irish (namely the IRA) were labelled as terrorists.

The purpose of the program was to overcome the hatered and misconceptions ppl hold but to me it felt as if the message was
beware, not only are Muslim guys terorrists but so are Muslim girls.

i only saw the 2nd half, so cant say comprehansively, but what i saw was pretty horrible.

the guy was patriotic, which is fair enough, and he's trying to stop terrorism, which is ofcourse praise-worthy. But the fact that he didn't pray, he drank alcohol and he slept around seemed to me to be saying 'the only 'safe' Muslims are the ones who have given up Islam.'

episode 2 seems to focus on his sister, but it seemed to me that she was the 'practicing', 'observant' muslim and she turned to extremism.

i'd like to see a show wherein the 'practicing' Muslim is the one who's fighting terrorism because its clearly haram and they are trying to enjoin good and forbid evil, while the non-religious one goes into extremism because of deprivation, lack-of-education, racism and status-frustration.

but.. but.. but... where will they leave the stereotype then?

(IMO the situation is normally the opposite of that though...)

just skim watched it on 4OD. Pretty poor.

I am disappointed as CH4 does at times get pretty gritty/good shows that cover issues. Their one about the riots was very good. THis on the other hand is pretty poor.

It does not make you "feel" for the main guy. I had no respect for him, and when he had his hissy fit when his girlfriend had to sit in a segregated area for a "religious" talk, well, he has no hope.

On the other hand, it is buzzword friendly. Integration Is good. Not integrating is Bad.

Integrating means drinking, not having real connections with any people in his community, sleeping around etc etc.

its shocking c4 would prduce such a rubbish muslim representive for the role of sohail but its interesting because nasima is still alive yet its too long and pretty boring where the mi5 bit comes in

Noor — Fri, 2 Nov 2007 - 00:20

lol, it was a rhetorical question. anyhoo, the programme has made matters just worst! not only the beardos and ninjas are gona be getting attacked but every other asian looking person is too. can you imagine, an indian dancing away in some club and some random person comes up to her and says u paki terrorist!
anyway, who wrote the script for the programme? he’s pretty thick too.

MuslimBro — Fri, 2 Nov 2007 - 00:50

I haven't watched it but have downloaded it so will hopefully watch it over the weekend.

If you didn't like the programme you can email/write to channel 4.
If you didn't like the programme you can email/write to channel 4.
what for? it’s not like they're gona take anything i say on board.

Ya'qub — Fri, 2 Nov 2007 - 09:16

if u email channel 4, they hav a duty imposed on them by broadcasting standards association 2 take on board what u wrote. & if they get 1 email, their statistics say that that means something like 1000 hav th same complaint, but couldn't b bothered 2 write in. this means that it certainly IS worth writing into channel 4 if u hav a real complaint.

i saw yesterdays one an dthought it was good.
most of it was true, it can/does happen
i just thought it lacked it certain issues... why th egirl turned to extremism, the reason that came across was weak...
when she was in the meeting with th e'H.T' boyz , she just shut up when he answered her objections...
the ending was vague...

my main problem was Pregnant Muslim women could now b elooked at in suspicion: is that a baby or a bomb in her stomach!!!?:??

the programme reminded me of al mujairoun/ al ghuraba and early days HT boys at uni's..............

malik — Fri, 2 Nov 2007 - 16:55

I saw it. It was Kaafir propaganda.

It was made by a Jew. What did you expect. They were only trying to scare the society that Muslims were really evil.

I never really watched it, (clip show on 4 OD to watch it in like 5 mins....) but did she not pull the trigger so to speak?
