10 Dilemmas faced by Muslims walking down the street

1.Overhear obscenities

Yes this is a major problem; I mean people go around saying f-ing this and that all the time and even over small things. So how can you go to your favourite supermarket without hearing a swear word. It’s kind of tough but then again if we're going to hate West we need to be able to have enough swear words in our vocab so we can express that hate.

2. Seeing members of the opposite sex

This is part of walking down a street no matter what street it is. People do it all the time and don't think much of it. Some people make the effort to be seen – they wear clothes that will attract attention. Even the white girls feel ok, showing themselves off to the black guys, well some do feel a bit insecure, but it’s about looking good at the end of the day. So it’s a bit hard explaining to members of the public on the street about modesty, haya etc.

3. Music

Everyone listens to music no matter what the season, but sadly you can buy really good music about love and sex, but very few songs cover topics of sexual abstinence and marriage. Walking down the street you might accidentally listen to some of this music. The songs about dancing can make you move a little to the music and make you stand out, but then again as Muslims we should stand out from the rest of the people based on our choice of listening to nasheeds (but no nasheeds with musical instruments mind).

4. Dogs

Very tough to get round this one, imagine walking down the street after going to the butchers shop and a passing dog smells the meat in your bag. Your mum aint going to be best pleased when you tell her that a dog ate what you were supposed to eat for dinner.

5. Getting hit by a car

This is quite exciting to watch, scenes of emergency services, large crowds and traffic as far as the eye can see. There you are walking down the street and all of a sudden you get hit by a car. The car is hard to avoid because it is so big and coming so fast and every other person around you get covered in your blood. It’s very hard to avoid contact with this liquid

6. Gossip

Nowadays gossiping is all that matters and talking about what this person or that person is up to is the norm. Whilst walking down a street you might see someone you know and they'll tell you some gossip. Telling your friend that as a Muslims you don't like gossiping won’t really wash and make you seem like a Johnny no mates and frigid. Also hitting anyone who gossips about your female relatives can get you arrested.

7. Spending money
These days almost all shops have window displays. It's difficult to walk down a street and not be tempted to buy something. I mean the big Capitalist companies pay marketing and brand consultants millions to have eye catching displays in their windows. And the Money you spend in these shops will be used to pay off the huge interest payments of company debts and most importantly the salaries of the depraved and evil Capitalists.

8. Stolen goods

Tough one this, some people might offer to sell you a top of the range watch or phone. But these things are likely to be stolen. Telling the guy that you can't buy stolen goods won't go down well especially with someone has no other means of earning a living. Also the idea that you can buy the stolen goods and the give them to charity is totally invalid.

9. Drugs

As Muslims we are required not to take drugs. But when you walk down the street you might get offered drugs. We have to say no even if it is against our desires. So imagine if some druggy wants to sell you drugs and you say no you don't want it. He will not be best pleased.

10. Getting stared at

Some Muslims born in the west face this problem, how can they walk down the street with their brown skin and not expect to be recognised as Muslims? This can be a major issue. It can hinder you from going about your daily life. Staring will leave you with no recourse but to smile and wave. If you do this then the stares will fade away but you will no longer be seen as a Muslim. They will think you are British because you waved and didn't walk away like a good disgruntled Muslim should.

A country which does not accept us as equal citizens and forces us to choose between being Muslims and being British in terms of walking down the street?

Saying no to walking down the street can label you a weirdo and ungrateful to the nation which gave you many opportunities to walk down the street, but you know to stand and represent a outgoing nation is treachery to your Muslim sense of hiding away from the rest of the world.

So where can we as Muslims choose to walk which is halal and will earn us the pleasure of Allah swt in this life and the next?

Well i use to listen to dance and the odd R&B but im trying to give it up. Ive seen that club anthems 2007 advertised on tv and my hands are just itching to download it lol. For the past month just been listening to nasheeds, you cant go wrong with them.

You know, I also like Complicated- Avril Lavigne, it's a song about being yourself. Lots of Muslims can benefit from that. Oh and Bad Day- Daniel Powter, such a happy go lucky song! Anyway, I don't know any "good" dance tracks, Naz, but hey, who knows, maybe there are some.
If someone's getting you down then one of the best songs to listen to is Powerless.

what is happening with Avril Lavigne. One minute she got the skater look and her songs are quite good and now they just all soppy soppy :roll:

Daniel powter thats a good one, still sounds good even now. Theres alot of dance tunes out now but they just sing about the most utter rubbish but good base.
No i dont think ive cried over any song, dont get that emotionally envolved
