This Muslim Man Saved Several Hostages During The Paris Kosher Market Siege

Muslim employee Lassana Bathily saved lives by hiding customers in walk in freezer

Four people were killed Friday when the terrorist Amedy Coulibaly took several hostages inside a Kosher market in Paris, but that number may well have been higher were it not for a quick-thinking employee of the market named Lassana Bathily.

Bathily, a 24-year-old Muslim from Mali, was working in the store in the Porte de Vincennes neighborhood when the Islamist gunman burst in.

As panic ensued, up to 15 customers in the store hurried down to the store basement, when Bathily had an idea.

“When they ran down, I opened the door [to the freezer],” he told France’s BFMTV.

He quickly shut off the freezer and switched off its light. As he closed the door to shelter the customers inside, he told them, “Stay calm here. I’m going out.”

Important statement from Gaza civil society leaders: No ceasefire without justice for Gaza

As academics, public figures and activists witnessing the intended genocide of 1.8 million Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip, we call for a ceasefire with Israel only if conditioned on an end to the blockade and the restoration of basic freedoms that have been denied to the people for more than seven years.

Our foremost concerns are not only the health and safety of the people in our communities, but also the quality of their lives – their ability to live free of fear of imprisonment without due process, to support their families through gainful employment, and to travel to visit their relatives and further their education.

Caliph Al Baghdadi and the Islamic Caliphate

A topic to keep up to date with going ons...

First step is Tikrit.

Before ISIS Rebranded as IS, they captured large parts of Iraq including the city of Tikrit on June 11.

Currently the Iraqi government is in the process of trying to recapture the city.

Initial reports from Baghdad were that the city had been retaken, but they seem to have been premature.

The biggest victims will be the residents of TIkrit - ISIS has shown no qualms carrying out massacres, and since Tikrit has a large sunni majority. the forces of Al Maliki will not show much compassion to the residents - their aim is to show control on the ground, not to minimise civillian casualties so worse comes to worse they wont be against levelling the city.

When to call it quits?

1. There is no magazine.

2. The site is more or less abandoned

3. The price for hosting this site has increased marginally.

So the question is when to call it quits.

There is a big part of me that says keep the site running, making small changes/improvements and the hosting costs are negligible.

The smaller aprt says that every soul must taste death and if this site continues it will only waste people's efforts - people who could spend that time doing something more productive as for people wanting to use therevival for da'wah, it takes ten times more effort than it should.

Thoughts?
