Iranian Presidential polls 2013

I think today is election day.

The last president, Ahmedinejad has reached his term limit and cannot run again. Which the Ayatollahs are probably glad about as he had been openly in defiance to them in the recent past.

Most candidates that may disagree with the ayatollah have been removed from the running, including former president Rafsanjani and others including Ahmedinejad's preferred successor.

It will be interesting to see what happens.

Nobel Peace Prize Aung San Suu Kyiwinner finally acknowledges Rohingya Muslims and some of their plight

The Burmese Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi has to date mostly either ignored or outright dismissed the plight of the Muslim Rohingya in Burma.

Which generally went against what the western media has billed her as.

But now she has spoken out about a specific policy enforcement, which is trying to prevent Rohingya families from having more than two children.

While it may not be a full on acknowledgment of what has been happening in Burma, she has finally actually admitted to there being something wrong here.

Events Forum Deprecated (Closed) in favour of a brighter future

Salaam all

In order to improve the functioning of this site, the events forum is to be closed.

Fear not though, you can still add events by adding an "event". just go to "add" and choose "event" from the list.

This allows us to create an events calendar which is more useful than this topic and allows events to be listed by date.

(It allows us to filter the events from the new topics list.)

If anyone has any ideas on how th improve the fuunctioning of the events management, please do not hesitate to make your ideas known.

(In the future, it may be useful to also allow to filter by location, but I dont think we have enough traffic for this to be a real concern yet.)

US-based Human Rights Watch identified the rebel as Abu Sakkar, a well-known insurgent from the city of Homs, and said his actions were a war crime.

The main Syrian opposition coalition said he would be put on trial.
