I am a Muslim PhD candidate in Social Anthropology at Oxford, researching Sunni-Shi'a identity and relations in London.
I am interested in interviewing Sunnis from London as to their views on what it means to be Sunni in modern Britain and how they view Shi'as/Shi'ism.
The interviews will be conducted either individually or in groups (via email/msn or in person). Your personal views will be respected and treated in the strictest confidence. Your identity will be kept anonymous.
So, regardless of who you are I am interested in hearing from you, inshallah. If you have an experience, view or opinion then you have something to contribute towards my fieldwork and hence a greater understanding of Sunnis, Sunnism and Shi'ism in modern Britain.

it was. even today the shia kill the muslims and its on the news all the time that the shia kill the sunni in iraq. i used to have a freind who was shia and he backstabbed me wen i got in a fight and before my sunni mates used to tell me that i shouldnt me freinds with him but i was and no i no that they were right becuase they always hurt sunnis. why didnt they give water to hazrat husein? even the little baby wasnt given water.

Hussein (ra) was killed before 'sunni' and 'shia' split.
But some members of the group who *later* became [b]Sunni[/b] were the ones who killed Hazrat Hussein.
And, yes, at the moment there are some Shia killing Sunni.
There are also Sunni killing Shia.
And Sunni killing other Sunni.
And just because you've had a bad experience with [b]one[/b] Shia person, that does not make Shia 'always hurt Sunnis'
The same way that just because [b]one[/b] Muslim tries to blow up some British civilians, it doesn't mean all Muslims are murderous psychopaths.

if the Shia didnt kill Hazrat Hussain (PBUH) then why is it that they go around beating themselves during Muharram?

We do not believe sins are passed via genealogical lines. Children do not pay for the sins of their parents etc.

but some people are cursed. if badwa is given by holy people then they can last for years just like if holy people mak dwa for you then you can have good kids and that. you lot arent sunni because everyone knows that the shias hate the sunnis and the sunnis hate the shia.

yes but the shia still have rong ideas. the ones today might not have themselves killed hazrat husein but they still the same people. they still follow the religion of the ones who killed hazrat husein.

The Shia do have aspects that we Sunnis strongly disagree on however we should try to concentrate on what we do agree on.

How would the above bro like it if I were to accuse my Sunni brothers of killing Imam Ali because evidence is that todays Sunni Muslims are killing Shia Muslims in Iraq and other part of the world.
But I wont do that because it is Haraam to accuse people of something they have not done. It is one of the biggest sins in the eyes of God.
Imam Hussain was killed by Yazid who was neither a Sunni Muslim, nor a Shia Muslim.

Because they are not sunni's.
Maybe they do not accept the same proofs? I don't know.
PS Not all Shia's accept that mutilation is acceptable.
