Two car bombs found in West End

Police have confirmed they are now investigating the discovery of two car bombs in the West End of London.

Police said the second device was found in a Mercedes hours after the car had been given a parking ticket in Cockspur Street and towed to Park Lane.

Another Mercedes, with a bomb made up of 60 litres of petrol, gas cylinders and nails, had been found outside a nightclub in Haymarket at 0130 BST.

Both devices were similar, viable and clearly linked, police said.

The media are already pointing fingers towards "Islamic extremists".

latest for the conspiracy corners............ A set up, 2 days after Gordon Brown comes in, to help push though his new anti-terror laws

dont know if thats true, but would be hard to totally dismiss

He is free, he is mad,
He dances with ecstasy and delight.

Caught by our own thoughts,
We worry about every little thing,
But once we get drunk on that love,

UK terror threat now 'critical'

The UK's national terrorism threat has been raised to its highest level after an attack on Glasgow Airport was linked to two car bombs found in London.

Two men were arrested after ramming a burning car into the airport's main terminal, a day after police thwarted two attempted bombings in the capital.

Police said one of the men wore a "suspect device" and the incident was being treated as terror related.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown urged the public to remain vigilant.

"I know the British people will stand together, united and resolute," he added.

Based from the video I've seen on the BBC website, people are saying two suspects of Asian appearance have been arrested.

I hope it's not what I think it is; Britain was recovering from 7/7 and now this.

Analysts are suggesting there's more to come, but they are apparently basing that on the fact that three car bombings have been attempted over two days and hundreds of miles, rather than specific intelligence. Fortunately there have been no fatalities. Let's hope that's the last of it. I don't think it's worth holding out hope that the perpetrators are not jihadis.

I-m so happy

Every Muslim is a Jihaadi.

The terrorists however, are evil doers.

He who sacrifices his conscience to ambition, burns a picture to obtain the ashes!

I-m so happy

^^^

I think he was trying to say we shouldn't hold out hope that the perpetrators are not Muslims.

Don't just do something! Stand there.

Jihad is mentioned in Holy Quran. It is part of Islam. No Muslim can deny it. But its meaning is often twisted to encourage violent reactions. Islam does preach Jihad which means to struggle in righteous way. But it forbids violence against civilians and all innocent people. Allah has forbidden murder and taking of life.
However, some Muslim Ulema who have personal agenda and a political goal urge their followers to bomb all Kaafirs whether they are innocent or not. It is these scholars who give Islam and rest of Muslims a bad name. Their hatred for Kaafir is so much that it reaches the point of murder. This is obviously going away from Islam. Because Islam is a peaceful religion; and Allah made terrorism Haraam. It is mostly takfiris who engage in acts of terrorism. I hope police catch these twisted people who want to blow up fellow human beings.

Ayatollah rightly named America as "Great Satan".

Yep, we now know that they are Muslims.

but what makes it even worse is the fact that they were doctors, exactly the people who were supposed to save lives....not take them.

i was speaking to a muslim colleague at work and his reaction to these terror alerts are similar to alot of Muslims:

1. its a conspiracy.
2. "....theyve..." done it themselves to make muslims look bad
3. govt pays muslims to do this act
4. the muslim imams/extremists who incite naieve muslims do this are paid by the govt....

i think alot of muslims are in denial. we cant accept that MUSLIMS out there are terrorists.....

the main issue is HOW DO WE REACT:

1. IGNORE IT. NOT BOTHER ME. I DIDNT DO IT?
2. BE APOLOGETIC.
3. CONDEMN IT. FULL STOP

A newspaper article the other said Muslims havent done enough to condemn this. they should be on the streets protesting against teh terrorists etc......

so what do you say ppl? where do u stand? whats your reaction?

i condemn the conspiracy

I totally condemn this, i'm frankly disgusted! I can’t believe these so-called Muslims are still doing this!!! And all for what? In the name of Islam, yeah whatever!
They should be kicked out of this country for good or locked up for life.

I choose number 1.

I did nothing wrong. I will not try to defend/justify/condemn actions of another. Got tired of doing that a long time ago.

4th option - Lick paint!

He who sacrifices his conscience to ambition, burns a picture to obtain the ashes!

CONDEMN IT FULL STOP and make sure that we educate the youth with the true, moderate and peaceful message of Islam.

These extreme minded people who carry out such horrific incidents should be taught about the pain and humiliation the Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) and his Sahaba had to endure and they way they reacted.

Killing innocent people is Haraam and whoever does is not just sinning but making the situation for Muslims around the world much worse.

That's a valid option. On the same note I don't think that following a national security incident the BBC should invite MPACUK or the MCB into the studio to give their opinions either, unless they have some information to offer that would qualify as news. It is increasingly they who reinforce in the viewer's mind the link between terrorism and Islamist radicalism and the Muslim community. Having seen what they offer I would rather hear from an intelligence analyst.

Sorry to go off Topic but I have to admit that you have an excellent quote in your signature. Biggrin

Considering the man charged over the plot is an Iraqi who was in iraq after the war, do you think the (new) government will still deny it has any links to the Iraq war?

How dare they. We give them freedom, democracy and is this how they repay us? Where is the gratitude? those good for nothing foreigners!

its more than just that:

one was an Iraqi national, one was a Lebanese national, and one was a Jordain-Palestinian! (coincidence???)

yet there is Ed Hussein (hopefully no relation to our Ed) saying the same old 'no link to foreign policy' gibberish. then again, he has a book out at the mo and perhaps needs some publicity...
