When I Grow Up I Want To….

Salaam

I was 10 years old and used to say this a LOT….I’m 22years old now and STILL find myself regularly dropping this line.

I’m sure look forward to a comfortable/successful future. If we didn’t then most of us wouldn’t be in higher education today…

What we want in life id dependent on our financial situation, health, strength of ambition and of course the will of Allah (swt).

I think we should list all our long term/short term plans…

When I “grow up”…

…I want to buy a huge bookshelf that touches the ceiling and fill it up with Islamic books…actually what’d be better if I could have a small room totally dedicated to Islamic study…

….Spend a few years teaching abroad in a poor country…

….After a few years of teaching practice, become a RE Coordinator …

….Decorate every room of my home with the dhikr of Allah (swt)- traditional Islamic Art…

….Travel-visit countries that are rich with Islamic History…..

…..Do a second hajj/Umrah with family…

…and when I’m old, grey and rich(ish) – ready to put my feet up, I want to open a school back home….

Add your own please…

Wasalaam

Yes they can. Only the pious who devote their entire life to Allah and do everything for the sake of Allah.

We are all slaves of Allah. Our purpose in life is to worship Allah and to do everything he tells us to do.

thanks

I'd like to be a Good Muslim,

I want to be like the Prophet's Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) early followers, a good person.

I'd like to earn the pleasure of Allah (swt), My Parents and to continue being happy with my wife.

I'd like to have children, I'd like to bring them up in an Islamic way and dedicate them to Allah (swt).

I'd like to be shaheed.

Muslim Sister this a great thread that you've have started. Im sure you know but for those who don't we as Muslims are at an advantage, because we get Good Deeds just for having intentions of doing good, and then we get more good deeds when we carry out the good actions. So alwayz make good intentions. May Allah (swt) bless us all with knowledge and set us on the straight path. Ameen

I want to become a better Muslim by following the Prophet's (pbuh) sunna. I wish to further my knowledge on Islam and put it into practice in my daily life. And if I can be of any help/guidence then always willing to oblige.

why does every1 want to be shaheed :?

guys this is scary :?

do you have to die in a war to be a shaheed? i think that's how Summaiyah died? i'm not sure tho :?

I read somewhere that a person who remembers death upto 25 times a day can be considered a shaheed.

Tex not being offensive (and I am kinda new to this forum so you'll have to excuse my ignorance) but are you Muslim?

"The best of people are those who live longest and excel in their deeds, whereas the worst of people are those who live longest and corrupt their deeds." [Tirmidhî, Sahîh]

oh zara the following are classed as being a shaheed:

1) Death by drowning.
2) Death due to a building falling upon him.
3) Death of a woman during pregnancy due to the child.
4) sudden death of a young person

O you who believe, If you help (in the cause of) Allah, He will help you, and make your foothold firm {Surah Muhammad7}

I asked if you was Muslim, I didnt say or assume you was Kafir.

I noticed your short tempered it might help to take a few deep breaths and just sit back a little Bro.

And Tex what does Shaheed mean to you?

im pweeti sure its if you remeber death just 20times a day thats what i was told but dunno how reliable the source was wil have to double check..

To be beautiful is to expect nothing in return.

I'll double check when I get home aswell. Apologise in advance if I got it wrong.

Jabir ibn `Utayk reported that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said:

"There are seven kinds of martyrs besides those killed in wars, defending the cause of Allah:
• A person who is killed in an epidemic
• A person who is drowned
• A person who has bedsores, causing fever and cough resulting in his death
• A person who dies of a stomach disease
• A person who dies in fire
• A person who dies under falling debris [in a disaster]
• A woman who dies during childbirth."

To be beautiful is to expect nothing in return.
