just snoop around
that'll confirm who the theif is
Get a webcam with a built in motion sensor. It will record when it senses motion... lay an open mouse trap.
View the footage.
ABout dua, I dunno, but the above is more compelling for others.

Your friend should do this to catch the thief.
To recover the items only recitation of Innaa lillahi wa innaaa ilayhi raaji'oon constantly will be beneficial. The items will be recovered or ALLAH Most High will grant something better and greater in value in return inshaALLAH.
And finally for your friend who has suspicion hanging over her head - constant recitation of Ya Mu'izzo will also be beneficial and through its barakah a person is received with honour and respect inshaALLAH.
Hope it helps.
Ya ALLAH Madad.

Send a theif... to catch a theif.
Back in BLACK
Do a sting operation, kinda like what some police forces do.
Put some money and/or valuables in the house where it is visible by everyone. Put a secret camera nearby (preferbly with motion detector as admin has said) and relax....you should catch the theif in no time as they won't be able to resist it.
You could always follow the Israeli example, and commit yourself to killing random people til the theif returns the stolen item...
