have you guys heard of beatle nut or phaan? its called "goowa" in bengali i fink thats hw you spell it and its a major thng in benglali weddings called sinni phaan, iv seen alot of bengalis chew the stuff n coming out wiv red gobs n lips , i myself love it, its a bit like chewing wood, but if you add stuff like rose powder n limestone (chuna) it tastes lovely
i get told off by my friends cuz i chew it every morning on my way to 6th form n i dont knw i fink im addictd to it

Lol!Personaly i think its a bad habbit..Prefer chewing wrigleys extra :j anyway its nt haram for sure but it can be makrooh if u give ppl problems from the smell of it or like spitting out the juice anywhere like alot of oldies-this is the UK nt bangladesh uknw lol btw im bengali so not trying to make fun. Just thot of miswak hmm we should make use of that. Its v rewarding and also gud for hygene.

Ur phaan reminds me of red which reminds me of lpool which reminds me we beat wrexham 2-0 and bellamy scored. Nway bk to ur phaan. Paan is nice. I love it - and always get a fair amount form rellies when they come back from karachi. Mithaa paan is nice after a meal, tombaco paan is nice as relaxation

i dont do tobacco it makes me dizzy i used to but i like the leaf n nut n my fave rose powder called "chaman bahar" and "paan porag" those are delicious , but all my family members chew it except my older sis n younger bro but the rest of us kids n parents chew like mad, mum n me are the worst offenders, when im chewing a school ppl knw straight away who is chewing n wht i am chewing
il have to have it atleast twice a day after i drink tea but i fink when i was in bangladesh that is where they encouraged me to chew it, n i remember when i was younger ppl used to have from my mums mouth after it became red

in my mums house we always have some for guests. My parents tend to munch on it if we have guests or a really spicy meal, I wouldn't say they're addicts like Exquisite
In my house me and my husband banned my mother in law from chewing it. She's a full on addict.Whenever her lips were moving if it wasn't for her 3 daily meals you could be sure it was paan and beetal nut, with all the trimmings you could think of wrapped up in a parcel.
I suspect she's had it all her life coz her mouth is in such a bad state. Apart from that she was too messy with it. We couldn't be cleaning up red stains off the sofas and carpets, clothes, sinks, too much work. We told her to go easy with it, that didn't work. So we emptied the house of it. Ramsacked her room aswell,well addicts tend to hide a stash don't they?
She was upset but she knows it was for her own good. She gets some when she visits my mums house, other than that she shall never taste that stuff again.
My dads mother died from mouth cancer, caused by this stuff and she had a worse habit than my mother in law. Even when she had a blatant hole in the side of her cheek and the docs said she would probably die from it, she continued to chew the stuff. So i don't approve of it. The sweet shipari you get in weddings is nice, and harmless if it's a one off. But as for the rest best to stay away from it completely lest you become addicted.

i went to a majority, 99%, bengali primary school....its all i saw
it looks nasty, i have tried it once in pakistan....
in my orthodontics i used to go to, it had a sign coz it was in bengali area....said, 'eating paan gives you oral cancer'

i've never tried the tobacco paan and don't intend to, but i love sweet paan. not an addict like exquisite though.

I've been having paan masalah quite regularly for past few days. Never had it before. its really nice mashaALLAH.
Before only had paan as a leaf - but asked one of my uncles (whose ALWAYS got paan in his mouth) for some. nice

Paan to me sounds like a disgusting habit. I will never take it in my life Insh'Allah. It makes your teeth disgusting and red. If you take it regurlaly like every day your teeth will just become a horrible colour, Im only warning you.

lol Exquisite I like paan a lot but only have it normally when som1 brings it from back home.
These past few days been at my cousins house cos of his wedding and been taking some from one of my uncles but have to do it on the sly. Apparently its not good and it apparently looks bad for me to have paan n my mouth :roll: .
