22:20:58 You: 22:19:32 and?
22:21:29 You: we're not catholics/jehowahs witnesses/puritans where all things artificial are against the will of God.
22:22:13 You: 22:21:29 all things artificial or all things fun.
22:24:46 ThE pOwEr Of SiLeNcE: no ur not allowed to chnge ur luk like that tho22:25:02 ThE pOwEr Of SiLeNcE: like cosmetic surgery aint allowed
22:25:30 You: 22:25:02 buy dying of teh hair is...
22:25:36 You: 22:25:02 why isn't it allowed?
22:26:47 You: 22:25:36 who said it isn't allowed?
22:26:47 ThE pOwEr Of SiLeNcE: cuz ur changing how god made u
22:27:18 ThE pOwEr Of SiLeNcE: 22:25:30 its not permanent, plus u cnt dye it black
22:27:20 You: 22:26:47 by making a car hit you in the face?
22:27:36 You: 22:27:18yes you can - but only when necessary, like at times of war.
22:27:42 ThE pOwEr Of SiLeNcE: shudnt go against nature after all
22:27:52 ThE pOwEr Of SiLeNcE: 22:27:20
22:28:43 ThE pOwEr Of SiLeNcE: 22:27:36 exactly then, only when NECESSARY
22:28:47 You: 22:27:52 that would require some surgery...
22:29:04 You: 22:28:43 that is for black only, and there may have been a cultural explanation for it.
22:29:16 You: 22:27:42 medicine is allowed and encouraged...
22:30:06 ThE pOwEr Of SiLeNcE: 22:29:16 thats different
22:30:49 You: 22:30:06 how? you are subverting nature...
22:32:27 ThE pOwEr Of SiLeNcE: 22:30:49 well god tells u to look after ur health
22:32:36 ThE pOwEr Of SiLeNcE: AND to not change how he has made u
22:34:24 You: 22:32:36 "God Is beautiful and He loves beauty"
22:35:30 ThE pOwEr Of SiLeNcE: ?
22:36:27 You: 22:35:30 I am sure that is a hadith and is used to encourage people to not have a scruffy appearance.
22:37:02 You: besides, in the case where a person is born with defects, corrective surgery can be a requirement (hermaphrodites.)
22:37:10 ThE pOwEr Of SiLeNcE: 22:36:27 that doesnt mean u go and change wat u luk like
22:37:22 ThE pOwEr Of SiLeNcE: "god made everyone beautiful"
22:39:02 You: 22:37:10 not even if you are ugly?
22:39:05 ThE pOwEr Of SiLeNcE: 22:37:02 its no necessary, OR it may be necessary i guess, but thats not exception anyway
22:39:31 You: the problem with the gastric things is that it may be better for a person to learn self control, and there may be other associated illness in future life.
22:39:34 ThE pOwEr Of SiLeNcE: 22:39:05 its not like chnging urself to look good
22:40:06 You: 22:39:31 but apart from that I see no technical/religious problems with it.
22:40:31 ThE pOwEr Of SiLeNcE: 22:39:02 22:37:22 u just may not be able to see it, plus u shud be happy with the way god made u, or atleast jsut accept it
22:41:27 You: 22:40:31 beyond a certain point you have an effect on how you look via diet, lifestyle, what you do, what is in the environment.
22:41:46 ThE pOwEr Of SiLeNcE: 22:41:27 well thats ur fualt then isnt it
22:42:10 You: 22:40:31 what if you can't accept it? what if it makes you hide from the world?
22:42:18 ThE pOwEr Of SiLeNcE: 22:41:46 control ur lifestyle etc then u wnt have to have such things done
22:42:22 You: 22:41:46 and correcting the defects from your own fault?
22:42:55 ThE pOwEr Of SiLeNcE: 22:42:10 then u need some sort of psychiatric help
22:43:03 You: 22:42:18 prevention is better than cure, but telling someone that after the fact is... pointless.
22:44:27 ThE pOwEr Of SiLeNcE: 22:43:03 true, but so what, i dnt think that can be an excuse of having it done
22:45:57 You: << watch it.
22:46:05 You: 15 seconds long.
22:46:43 ThE pOwEr Of SiLeNcE: but thats not "normal"
22:47:04 ThE pOwEr Of SiLeNcE: he can probably have surgery to change that
22:47:15 ThE pOwEr Of SiLeNcE: (but i dunno about that)
22:47:31 You: there is no such thing as "normal"
22:48:14 ThE pOwEr Of SiLeNcE: hence the quotation marks!
22:48:25 ThE pOwEr Of SiLeNcE: cmon stop being difficult! lol
22:49:08 You: 22:48:25 but being difficult is easy!

Just thinking, what kinda surgery would a hermaphrodite have anyway? i mean theyre born as like male but only look like females untill they reach puberty, so why do they need surgery?

How and why do you guys know and care about stuff like that???

Iran gives sex-change operations to 'men who are ACTUALLY born into a woman's body' (and vise versa). What this has to do with their proportion of homosexuals (0.00 poofs per 1000 peeps) is unclear.

Don't just do something! Stand there.

I don't care. but it was an edge case to show surgery being used. I generally seem to0 take things to an extreme level when making or not making a point.

Lol

How & why i know...

like 2 weeks ago in health n social care someone brought up how they know "someone who is a guy but used to be a girl, but has had no surgery" so then the teacher was like he must b a hephradite and she found out more info on them. it was quite embarrasing and awkward cuz when she was telling us a boy walked in! lol
and no it wasnt really relevant to the lesson but we always seem to go way off topic after something *vaguely* related is mentioned.

i dont care, i just ddnt see the relevance of it being mentioned :S.

Anyway who do u agree with, me or You? (everyone else can answer that too)

Power, please don't have surgery, I'm sure you look lovely as you are.

Btw, I'm sorry for your loss.......

Nah, it was just banter. Of course I doubt that Power is considering plastic surgery, or at least I hope not!

Power it'll be fine! I promise you! By the way, I've just realised the Libya was liberated on the same day.

Is gastric band allowed in Islam as a mean to reduce weight

Islam does not prevent cures for illnesses.

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

Thats not a proper cure though is it. I'm not talkig about whether it's allows or not, but its actual benefits...

"How many people find fault in what they're reading and the fault is in their own understanding" Al Mutanabbi

you have to find a reason for it not to be allowed to ban it.

it ahs health benefits other than reducing stomach capacity too - it works as a new entrance for the stomach and helps prevent acid reflux.

There are probably also negatives out there, but i doubt it would be unislamic in nature as I havent come across anything suggesting that.

As I said I wasn't questioning it's permissibility but whether it actually works. I've heard it's not good.

"How many people find fault in what they're reading and the fault is in their own understanding" Al Mutanabbi

And regarding the gastric band, wouldn't it be allowed if a persons life was in risk?

You're definitely right. I didn't expect anyone to give a fatwa either Smile just perhaps share what they might've heard from shaykhs or have read or like you have, give links to sites like sunnipath Smile thanks for those, by the way.

Edit: for those who can't be bothered to open and read the links, plastic surgery is impermissible unless there's an actual problem like a messed up nose which doesn't allow the person to breathe properly.

@Jay K - last link doesn't work.
