"How many people find fault in what they're reading and the fault is in their own understanding" Al Mutanabbi

Is there any way this can be related to Islam?

Gluttony as a sin?
The bounty of God?
The creative power of God's creation?

#Before you look at the thorns of the rose , look at it's beauty. Before you complain about the heat of the sun , enjoy it's light. Before you complain about the blackness of the night, think of it's peace and quiet... #

erm... we are not supposed to over eat (or eat haraam foods obviously) ... and I think there is ahadith that says something like eating a few dates a day is enough to sustain the body, but if people want to eat more, they should use 1/3 for food, 1/3 for water and 1/3 for air...

A question - did the prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) have a sweet tooth?

Off the top of my head I can think of where the prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) was told to tell off a kid for eating something sweet and the prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) asked for him to be brought infront of him some other day. When the kid was on some other day, the prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) told him it was bad for his teeth. WHen asked why he Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) could not have mentioned this the first time, the prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) mentioned that he needed to not eat the thing before telling the kid not to.

I have also been told that it is sunnah to have something sweet with the meal (and in the cases where the "meal" was only dates, I guess the whole meal was sweet.)

I have heard this too.

the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) did have sweet foods but not all the time and not with every meal.

Oreos are haraam according to their website - well not suitable for vegatarians.

"How many people find fault in what they're reading and the fault is in their own understanding" Al Mutanabbi

That doesnt make it haraam - why are they not suitable for vegetarians?

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

Because of the whey. There are two types and this one is presumably from animals.

"How many people find fault in what they're reading and the fault is in their own understanding" Al Mutanabbi

whey is halaal AFAIK.

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

Even if it comes from animals?

"How many people find fault in what they're reading and the fault is in their own understanding" Al Mutanabbi

yes

Same category as milk.

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

Quote:
The reason for the problematic nature of whey is the rennet used to curdle the milk in order to produce the whey and cheese. If the rennet is halal (for instance from a halal animal, vegetable, or most microbial sources) then the whey and cheese is also halal, otherwise not.

...
Rennet is used to curd the milk. Whey should be avoided because the rennet used to curd the milk could be from a haram or non-Zabihah animal.

And Allah knows best.

I don't want to talk about this.

This topic does no longer exist in my head.
