mingin means ugly
wagwaan- what's going on
flexin'- having fun/relaxin
im sure ppl have got loads more
Seeen - 'I understand' or 'it is clear to me now'.
Booted - 'ugly'.
Breeze - 'waffle'. EG, 'Stop chatting breeze man'.
Cuzza - derived from 'cousin'. Often used in place of 'bro'.
Next man - 'somone else'. EG, 'Next man was saying', 'and then next man jumped in'.
besides Seen and next man, them words mus be only used from wherever ur from, not up ere anyway!
some lad from nelson at the camp, my room-mate, he couldnt stop saying 'is it?'. its cold......'is it'. nice jacket there....'is it'. even when it didnt make sense - theyre calling us down...'is it'. annoying.
my list:
chichi man, chbillin, and the phrase 'thaaaaaaaaaats it innit'
note: i dont use these, or hardly any of em, just what i hear every day
The Lover is ever drunk with love;
He is free, he is mad,
He dances with ecstasy and delight.
Caught by our own thoughts,
We worry about every little thing,
But once we get drunk on that love,
Whatever will be, will be.

oh well i suppose theres no gain if theres no pain!
LOL-Mr Ed if u wanted lessons in slang why didn’t u just say so
If something’s “bate” that means be careful u can get caught doing it
U can also say that’s “hot”
If u get caught you’ve been “clocked” and if someone tells on u they’ve “grassed u up” Or G’d up (grassed up)
More then one man is known as “mans” not men
Something REALLY good its “heavy” “bad” or “sick”
If someone keeps on letting u down they’re “long” if someone ignores u they’ve “blanked u” if someone stands u up they’ve “skanked u” ...(u fit all of these )
If someone is ugly they’re “butterz” if someone is good looking they are “buff” or “Fit” (u can also say Buffness or Fitness)..in Manchester u call good looking people “Bum” (no joke)
If u get on with someone or can relate to them they’re “bare safe” or “on a level”
I'll add to this list daily
EDIT-if u get ur "kicks" outta doing sumin that means u really enjoy doing it
most of those above are commonly used words and not just street slang anymore
aye, when i heard sum1 say 'bum' i was
workin in manchester left me confused, couldnt understand a single word. he's 'deakin' me. (giving dirty loooks) or hes givin me dirties (glary looks)
coddswallop - jus heard sum1 on this forum say it, cant say i heard that 1 b4!

'giving me dirties or giving me daggers' are common
but i have never heard the word 'bum' being used to describe someone whos good looking...thats got 2b the funniest one yet!
its worse twhen they use it 2 describe a person! but i think it has died down now, not 2 sure. eventually most die down and have a new name.
sick/phat used 2 be heavy/mint and god knows wat else
buff used 2 be bum wich used 2 be fit
kids these days eh

What is the current status of 'safe'?
Is it used outside Birmingham? If so, has it become too common?
My mates say 'safe' instead of 'bye', 'huda hafiz' or 'salaam'.
it has become too common+yeh its still used instead of 'bye'
Slang ruins your ability to talk properly. It might seem cool to know all the lyrics….. but if your not hanging out in the streets or with street people then such lingo seems embarrassing/common and out of place.
Throughout high school I spoke like that cos all my friends did and I fitted in with them ….then when I got a place in some snobby sixth form I suddenly become conscious about the way I spoke because everyone spoke the Queens English….them guys taught me how to talk properly.
I find it stress free and easy to talk to people my age or people younger then me… but I have to be careful when speaking in professional environments and have to think before I speak.
This lingo is difficult to shake off sometimes.
p.s "Safe" has become too common and means too many different things...
It can mean Bye or thanks..."she's safe" means that she's alright...
if a someone is dating someone they're "checkin" or "dealing"
if someone "went sick on you" or "went sick" means they lost their temper
if a girl is dating more than one boy she has "bare mans on the line"
"on my jays" means on my own
"got jacked" means got robbed
i was dealin sum gyal an her mans went sick on me, i clocked em one day and they started deakin me, n then they jacked me on my jays

A grammatically correct slang sentence….but I don’t understand how you “clocked them”. Don’t you mean “you got clocked”?
i meant we clocked each other

the term 'ah raas' actually derives from afro-carribean dilect and whilst i dont knw the literal meaning, its actually quite an obscene word. english lessons as school 4 ya
