Assalamu Alaikum,
I'm Phoenix and I'm in year 9. My options are coming real
fast and I am thinking about choosing Psychology for a
subject. I asked my brother, he says Psychology is too hard
for me.
What shall I do? By the way, I am very interested in the way
peoples mind work, motives and etc.
Plus, more importantly I'd like to know if this subject any how
goes against our religion. [I wouldn't mind anyones perception]

Do what you're interested in - as long as there is a good mixture of maths and science in there.

Why does you're brother say it's hard for you?
It's not that hard.

Just wondering, have you done Psychology?
I'm doing it.

Erm, then how is it like?
If you like learning theories about why certain things are like they are, then you will like it.
If you prefer concrete facts it will annoy you.
It's not hard to learn but for exams you need to be able to write good essays/answer questions remembering to answer the WHY rather than the WHAT.

Psychology is the study of human and animal behaviour. It has no interest in how minds work or whether minds exist at all. Look at a basic introduction to psychology first and then make up your... mind.
you're in year 9, so dont worry, make istikharaah, get informed, then if your heart feels like you still wanna do it, do it. there is always this time at hte beginning of year 10 in which teachres let you change (usually) if you didnt expect it to be that way.
Also, ask a teacher who knows you well, maybe RE or History teacher if they think you will be able to do this subject.
No, i dont think there's anything that goes against Islam, you might be confusing it with philosophy, which studies existance of god etc..
psychology is study of people's behaviour and the WHY they do this. i think..even though im studying it...
i'm pretty sure its going to be really interesting at GCSE level!
Do your best!
Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?
Thanks, it helped.
Hey, finally somebody my age came along
Hello, I'm Sparkles and I'm in year 10.
Welcome to The Revival!!!
Anyhoo, I want to do Psycology myself and become a Psycologist Inshaallah, but I didn't have the choice to do it at GCSE.
My advice is that enjoy year 9 as much as u can, because when u come to year 10, u will get masses and masses of work and revision thrown at u!
Personally I didn't have a clue what to choose, everyone around me already knew what they wanted to do, but I didn't,.
I'm that type of person, who thinks for themselves and yet puts her entire trust in Allah SWT. and at the end I chose dual award science, english lit and lang, maths, IT (compulsory) and R.S.,Business and Economics, History and Spanish.
So yeah that is about it. If u want to know anything else feel free to blog and hopefully I shall respond.
Don't let your brother discourage u in what u want to do, if you think that u can do it, that there is nothing stopping you!
Alrighty then,
Wasalam,
Sparkles
nahh dude... you dont know year 12/13. i say ENJOY GCSE's. nothing like it EVER!
Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

I remember studying depression in psychology.
I refuse to believe the saying that studying too much makes you go crazy (or falling into depression in this case).
She took psychology too seriously? How can that lead someone to depression? :/

It's just like how optometry leads to blindness and medicine to death.
How many 18th century doctors are you aware of that are still alive?
I rest my case.
