Bored girl with too much time on my hands
these are MY GENERALISATIONS so there’s no need to get uptight
Enjoy
Deoband – people think that ur beliefs are too strict and rigid-u feel that Islam has been compromised too much, it pains u to see how “liberal” everyone has become-u wish that TRUE pardah is implemented soon
Sufi - people accuse u of daydreaming, u want to purify urself and get closer to God, ur very polite and popular, people's insults dont bother u at all
MPAC Type - ur very active, very social, big on talks/march's and politics, u wish that mosque Imams "wake up" and "stop snoring", in ur day to day life tho ur not very strict with Islamic issues
Progressive – u believe that men misinterpret islam and hold women back, ur pro homosexuality, pro Abortion and people accuse u of trying to “modernise” the religion
Cultural/Traditional – u do whatever ur forefathers have told u to do, if they abide by the caste system so do u, people accuse u of being “backwards”, u are totally anti mixed cultural marriages and are very superstitious
Modern – u think that Islam should move with time, u feel that Islam is not compatible with the 21 century, u live ur life as an animal and do as u please
HT – u are angry that the Khilafah is not established, u wish people would stop worshipping their scholars when we have the quran and sunnah, u are reg told to move ur stall away from Mosques
Brewli - people accuse u of worshipping graves, u feel that people do not respect Nabi sallilahualayhiwasalam enough, u believe that Milad is Fard, u hate wahabi’s
Wahabi – u are disgusted with the amount of innovations that have creeped into our religion, u cant stand the fact that people do things that the Prophet (pbuh) and his Sahaba didn’t do, u see shirk everywhere,
What Islamic Stereotype Are YOU?
Add ur own
You have got 'progressive' wrong.
I don't think they accept the qur'an as the true and unabridged word of god. They consider many haraam acts allowed. Thus rendering them non-muslim.
From that i come across as a cross breed of deobandi/HT/Brelwi/Wahabi!
Oh and if you change your definition of sufi to add 'lazy', add that to the above mix.
"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.
According tou your list I am a mongrel produced by cross contamination of . . .
Deoband/Sufi/MPAC type/Cultural/traditional/Wahabi.
Interesting.
Become obedient to the Chief, Muhammad salallahu alayhi wa sallam, so ALL chiefs become obedient to you.
progressive type that I was thinking of is the Dr Wadud lot
they do accept the Quran don't they?
and I had no idea that sufi's were lazy
they do have the best manners tho out of the above-my dads best mate his a Sufi and his good manners are to die for

personallly it dont bother me what a person is
what bugs me is when people cuss other groups
u get hardcore sunni's cussing the shia
u get the HT/wahabi cussing the Sufi
u get the progressives cussing the cultural/traditional
i have serius issues with that
people should just let others be
Labelling doesn't help either!

i consider myself to be a moderate muslim, but if im to use some of your defs i'd say im:
a bit of a
Sufi, Progressive and Modern
which is interesting... very interesting.
Back in BLACK
everyone fits in to a label-cos evryone's diff
it aint no big deal unless cussing/fights starts
same here - i get really annoyed when Muslims cuss Muslims. but as irfan pointed out, i dont think ur really helping anyone by attempting to slot us all into stereotypes... personally i dont feel i fit into any of them!
I NEVER WORE IT BECAUSE OF THE TALIBAN, MOTHER. I LIKE THE MODESTY AND PROTECTION IT AFFORDS ME FROM THE EYES OF MEN. Dust, X-Men
if labelling is a must.........im a PAKKAH SUNNI! ends at that. we keep it real, love the prophet (SAW), and believe in complete and true Islam. were part of the Mihaj-ul-quran movement and our Qaid is Professer Dr Tahir-Ul-Qadri!
i fit into more than one of your catagories, inlcuding Brewli...which im 100% sure i am not.

He is free, he is mad,
He dances with ecstasy and delight.

We worry about every little thing,
But once we get drunk on that love,

i have totally got to agree with u brother! (but im PAKKI SUNNI!) lol
I am affiliated with Ahlus Sunnah wa Jama'ah
not Ahles Sunna wal Jemaat.
between us and them is the difference between heaven and earth, day and night.

Hey lilsis how bout an edit on one of them cuz i dont match none of them, i quite like been a sufi but i aint polite, looks like i need to wrk on my manners!
evryone can feel free to add their own labels with their own descriptions
I personally feel I am more in line with the deoband and traditional thinking on the lists. But in real terms, it really depend what type of mood I am in.

it makes me laugh whenever being a Junkie is ascribed to the Sufi's
i wonder what the background behind that is
It is because alot of people use drugs to mediate. In Pakistan, at many shrines you see people smoking away and getting high at the same time praying. It doesn't make sense but it still happens.

i agree with all the above that's me but i'm also classed as Brelvi so is Dr Tahirul Qadri by many. Brelvi is not a sect but only a term used to describe Hanfi sunni muslims in the subcontinent. To get the full knowledge on this anyone may read up on Imam Raza Khan 'Brelvi' who brought the teachings of Imam Hanafi to the subcontinent
jus to clarify my earlier commnents.....i said that without knowing what a brewli is! still dont know.......cany anybody enlighten me in a nutshell?
Cheerz

yeh I want to know what a Brewli is too
the only knowldge I have of them was that guy who used to post in the old forum
LOL-he had good intentions but he's the reason why people get wrong ideas about Brewli's
yeh, i always get this impression that they are extreme cuz thats what most ppl say but i woudnt assume bout them cuz i dont knw what they are or who they are..i was once called brelwi which left me confused!
people are stupid with their labels sumtimes
we got called Wahabi's few weeks ago cos we refused to stop saying "Allah is everywhere"
Most of the Pakistani and bengali in England follow Brewali. I also believe that Dr Tahir Ul Qadri does as well. It basically people who follow the teaching of Iman Ahmed Raza Khan who was from Bareilly. It isn't a big deal really, his teaching isn't too much different from anyone esle. Half of the stuff such as worshipping Graves is wrong and is made up, they don't believe in that, it just people get excited and to make a point they used extreme example which don't exist.

Thanks for clarifying that
The issue regarding Barelwi-ism and what it means is complex.
I think perhaps I should start another thread on this issue . .
Become obedient to the Chief, Muhammad salallahu alayhi wa sallam, so ALL chiefs become obedient to you.
aye do that and explain what it is, btw are u brelwi?
He clearly a deobandi.

who are they?
They are like rival for some reason, they both from area in india I think and they share so much in common then differences. But both group constantly argue over mundane points IMO. It due to the fact that Iman Ahmed Raza and one of the main deobandi scholar of the time used to argue over various points. It pointless and best rather left alone IMO.
