You are what you eat

.. Says Gillian Mckeith!

But some foods are just too darn delicious! So everyone's going on at us to be healthy and stuff which means cutting out the take-aways and the overeating of carbs andd - blah dii doo da but the list really does seem to go on.. And on and on!

So I like chicken fillet burgers and chips , fish and chips (chips seem to be becoming a common factor but I actually like them more as a accompaniment than on their own), pizza, sharwarmas (have to be lamb), lamb chops (any shape or form) andddd more and more and more!

I actually loveeee bread too, the textures and types – seeded is lovely, don’t really eat white bread anymore, it’s more 50/50 or brown or 50/50 seeded or brown seeded, oh and breadsticks – you know those Italian breadsticks, Grissini I think they’re called, I like them with sesame seeds – seeds are yum.

Today for Iftaar, my sisters and I made: Quiche with Potato Wedges and Garlic Bread (had vegetables thrown in too, didn’t have any though – the ones in the Quiche were enough for today). It was a lot of food let me tell you! The quiche was deeeelish of course, was moist with just the right amount of salt and burnt-ness (I like the cheese to be brown and crispy and a liberal amount of salt!)

Ok I do feel incredibly full now but that wasn’t because I took more than a normal portion, it was because since Ramadhan has started I’ve decided to try to be satisfied with less (food that is) but since my cousins were around today I ate more than, say the day before yesterday.
How come we seem to eat more when we have guests around?! it’s kinda like ‘hey they won’t be here tomorrow so let me let myself off a little even though I know that it’ll ruin whatever I’ve accomplished so far!’

Oh I forgot to tell you the reason for trying to be satisfied with less – I’ve read quite a few Hadith that basically tell us to not fill ourselves, one of which is:

' A man used to eat much, but when he embraced Islam, he started eating less. That was mentioned to Allah's Messenger (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam), who then said, "A believer eats in one intestine (is satisfied with a little food) and a Kafir eats in seven intestines (eats much)." '

[Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol. 7 : No. 309]

It’s a toughy though, not eating (as) much – but surprisingly after a few days you actually do feel full eating less (this is why I’m so full now) but it's not easy and I still have to control myself (yes there are only two chicken nuggets left on that big plate but that doesn’t mean you have to be the one to eat them.. right? Right? Sighhh, too late)

You really think it's that easy?

You can always find arguments to suit your needs.

Someone once posted have you noticed how the rise in the promotion of diets etc have coincided with huge rise in obesity levels?

Personally, I prefer the seefood diet. I see food, I eat it.

I had coco pops for iftari yesterday, mum was like "is this the time to be having cereal?"

Lol Krispy Kremes - esp that one with chocolate shavings on top and chocolate oozing on the inside - mmmm!

Cereal is top, it really feels like you're being healthy - I have it for sehri (Bran flakes or Coco Pops or Weetabix Minis with Chocolate orrr ok i'll stop now), but sometimes it goes one bowl, two bowls, a little more, let me just finish the milk and by the end you've had a hugeeee amount, this happens to everyone right?

yeah i feel healthy when i have cereal for sehri. the rest is just you Blum 3

I think the saying is meant to be literal.

If you eat healthy you'll be healthy if you eat unhealthy you'll be unhealthy.

tried eating with just three fingers.

i actualyl felt food more quickly. i think it wa sbecause it took me SO long to get the food in my hand and then in my mouth, meanwhile the food in my stomach was expanding and feeling me up

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

or it could be that you were not used to it.
