Sitting straight 'bad for backs'

Sitting up straight is not the best position for office workers, a study has suggested.

Scottish and Canadian researchers used a new form of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to show it places an unnecessary strain on your back.

They told the Radiological Society of North America that the best position in which to sit at your desk is leaning back, at about 135 degrees.

Experts said sitting was known to contribute to lower back pain.

Data from the British Chiropractic Association says 32% of the population spends more than 10 hours a day seated.

There is a picture there too to show you the correct seating posture.

just looked at the picture.

how can you sit at 135 degree and do anything? and it looks extremely uncomfortable. i bet it would put strain on the neck trying to look up.
and how much leg room will you need?

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

let me tell you this, it is not extermely uncomfortable. I probably sit like that often and had always thought it was bad for the back.

(In the picture add a huge belly and it would be describing me!)

actually i tried it. but you have to bring the keyboard, screen so much close coz your head is so much further from the desk then!

a huge belly.... -_-"

That is a very old article. Popular expertise is already very disorienting and I am not ever going to worry about the health impact of perpendicular chairs.

aah, but it gives ammo to us slouchers out there. "No, I am not lazing around, I am caring for my back!"
