and there is such a thing as "sadaqah jaariyah" - things that you do now that will continue benefiting you after death. Like charity or other good deed that continues to spread. Donate some money to build a well somehwhere in some poor country and let your account of deeds ratchet up even after you have forgotten your contribution.

Or you can remain a student and study Islam among other things - the angels lay their wings beneath the feet of a student until the student returns or something like that.

No...you can actually see the memories again like your a ghost watching that memory....remember the scene where he puts his head into the Peneseive and goes into a memory of his father and Snape.
