BIRTHMARKS

Is there any stories or links about being born with a birthmark.... pple espec from the asian community tend to always say its goodluck. is this tru ??or are these man made rules we shouldnt believe??

if asked alot of pple who actually think this but they never seem to be able to back it... there seems to be no evidence wat sooo ever...

sounds like rubbish to me never heard of such a thing and most likely from some culture based beliefs with no significance.....but i could be wrong lol

well, I think they can become cancerous in some occasions... I may be wrong though.

Saying that, the prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) had a "seal of prophethood" - a birthmark between the shoulders and there is the story that atleast one person tried to see that (and did see it) before accepting Islam.

Also there have been other people with "special birthmarks" - no idea if they have any significance or not. As an example there is the which has verses of the qur'an that appear the side of its legs. But its not really a birthmark as they came later and also, they periodically change... and my mind cannot stop thinking that it is a hoax.

o ok i thought i had slight doubt in my mind, thnx

They don't have religion significance... someone with a birthmark is
(probably) not someone more or less beloved to God than someone without.

They just are and if people want to make up fantastical tales about them, then so be it.

But some (well, one) birthmarks have had siginificance.

Perhaps people consider a birthmark to be goodluck because the prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) had one?

Linking up with the other thread discussing reincarnation, there is a psychiatrist who considers birthmarks as the area of the body where a person for a past life was wounded. I dont buy into that. How would you know how/where the desceased person was hurt or which one?

It seems other cultures and societies similarly place some emphasis on birthmarks but this is all conjecture and random folklore. It simply allows the the mundane activities of everyday life to be more exciting.

yes - before the internet and "the arrivals", there was the shadows". but that required cassette tape and was pretty recent too. Before that... how can you function without the internet? campfire stories and trying to keep yourself entertained?

I did also mention how it could potentially be(come) a cancerous cyst...

and they may say it out of syumpathy or compassion, or even maybe they like it or heard it from someone else and never questioned it, ore ven were bored.

Or maybe they have life experience where they have come to the conclusion through observation?

Take it all as it comes. a small birthmark on the face is also often called a beauty spot...

(cancerous cysts I think come later in life... but can look like birth marks.)
