Pink Elephants

One of the things that irritates me is how people make up stuff and claim its part of Islam... ie. going up and down wimslow rd is part of islam, cant read the Quran around 12pm, no giving the man the finger... well maybe the last one.

One of the things ive heard recently is from now till after Eid prayer guys arents supposed to cut their hair or shave? Doesnt that only apply to people on Hajj???

Where do these people come up with these things?
Was there a meeting of crazies i missed?
I dont remember getting the memo...

On the other hand i dont want to go around shouting the 'B' word :/

An Imam on Islamiqa on Islam channel confirmed this to be right and said that it applies to both men and women. I've also heard that its highly recommended but not forbidden

but does it also apply to people who are not on hajj?
Is it fardh?

It is a mustahab/sunnah to not do so in the ten days leading to Eid ul Adha - its like emulating the people who go to hajj I think and seen as a good thing (reward being the similar as doing a qurbani - but not replacing that act), but it is NOT compulsory.

Ooohh okay. That makes sense.

Why couldnt anon just say that?

Maybe because where ever he/she decided to look it up did not clarify on its status except for it being a good thing?

People often mix up "good things" and duties and obligations, not understanding why someone would not do the "good thing"... since its a good thing, surely everyone wants to do that good thing?
