Now that Eid is circulating into warmer weathers, would anyone ever consider doing the old British thing of "street parties"?
Basically everyone sets up outside their own house and especially in a place with a large muslim community it could be quite friendly and uplifting... or soaked through.
Could be a good way to engage with neighbours, and even let non muslims engage in the celebrations.
On the other hand, I would probably never do such a thing.

It would be a wicked idea in the summer.
Get people involved. Reach out to non-muslim community.
Give a positive image of muslims.

...and thus won't happen?
Don't just do something! Stand there.
Not for this eid anyway, having a look at another site, it mentioned that a good planning timeframe was about 3 months.
"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.
A good idea but probably restricted to the confines of our own gardens (if you have one).
I think you'd struggle with the "Good muslims" image though. How does anyone explain the images of the ignorant muslim protesters outside the mosque and to make it worse.... during Ramadan.
Our ability to reach out to people is limited and is furthermore limited by ignorant people. The best thing would be to hold a party and invite those within your vacinity that may enjoy the experience and potentially wish to learn.

It is not all about outreach, but creating an atmosphere of celebration.
Why in the gardens? would such a thing not defeat the purpose of a communal celebration?

i wouldn't do it. i stuff my face on eid. and end up feeling very nauseus (however its spelt) afterwards. i would prefer to stuff myself in the privacy of my private party INSIDE a building. just for my own peace of mind.
