Father and son

Father
Its not time to make a change,
Just relax, take it easy.
Youre still young, thats your fault,
Theres so much you have to know.
Find a girl, settle down,
If you want you can marry.
Look at me, I am old, but Im happy.

I was once like you are now, and I know that its not easy,
To be calm when youve found something going on.
But take your time, think a lot,
Why, think of everything youve got.
For you will still be here tomorrow, but your dreams may not.

Son
How can I try to explain, when I do he turns away again.
Its always been the same, same old story.
From the moment I could talk I was ordered to listen.
Now theres a way and I know that I have to go away.
I know I have to go.

Father
Its not time to make a change,
Just sit down, take it slowly.
Youre still young, thats your fault,
Theres so much you have to go through.
Find a girl, settle down,
If you want you can marry.
Look at me, I am old, but Im happy.
(son-- away away away, I know I have to
Make this decision alone - no)
Son
All the times that I cried, keeping all the things I knew inside,
Its hard, but its harder to ignore it.
If they were right, Id agree, but its them you know not me.
Now theres a way and I know that I have to go away.
I know I have to go.
(father-- stay stay stay, why must you go and
Make this decision alone? )

I remember listening to this a lot when my dad got sick. It really helped me when he passed away.

I met Yusuf Islam a few months later at Regent's Park Mosque, and told him. He was very friendly and approachable.

Don't just do something! Stand there.

i love yusuf islams style of music its so calming and relaxing.

Those who danced were thought to be quite insane, by those who couldn't hear the music...

HOW DARE YOU COMPARE HIM TO THAT MUSICAL RETARD! JAMES BLUNT CANT SING AND HIS LYRICS ARE RUBBISH! *sigh*

Just imagine what Jamie would be like if he ever accepted (or even introduced to) Islam ...

It would make him a lovely person.

But some thing like that wonn't magically give someone musical talent (just listen to any nasheed for proof).

Yusuf's style is unique.

OK, that's not true either.

He was one of many similar acts in the 70s. Simon and Garfunkle sprink to mind.

On the whole there isn't enough rhythm in it for me - but its ok to sit and chill with at the end of a long day.

TBH all I know about James Blunt is his terribly annoying singles and whiney voice in interviews, but it doesn't exactly tempt me to look any further.

Good lyrics - look at Andre from Outkast (back before he went nuts)

"Even the sun goes down, heroes eventually die
Horoscopes often lie, sometimes. Why?
Nothing is for sure Nothing is for certain nothing lasts forever
But until they close the curtain
It's him & I"

Will those feet in modern times
Walk on soles that are made in China?
Feel the bright prosaic malls
In the corridors that go on and on and on

Are we blind - can we see?
We are one - incomplete
Are we blind - In the shade
Waiting for lightning - to be saved
Cause love is noise and love is pain
Love is these blues that I'm singing again
Love is noise and love is pain
Love is these blues that I'm singing again, again

Will those feet in modern times
Understand this world's affliction
Recognise the righteous anger
Understand this world's addiction?

Those who danced were thought to be quite insane, by those who couldn't hear the music...

Is this a competition? There are many good lyrics out their, personally I like more relateable/down to earth ones than airy-fairy ones. But its all good.

You guys need to listen to the good songs by James Blunt. He's got talent, some of his songs are great. Take, Cry, Wisemen, No Bravery (which is about his time in Bosnia) and Carry You Home for instance.

No Bravery

There are children standing here,
Arms outstretched into the sky,
Tears drying on their face.
He has been here.
Brothers lie in shallow graves.
Fathers lost without a trace.
A nation blind to their disgrace,
Since he's been here.

And I see no bravery,
No bravery in your eyes anymore.
Only sadness.

Houses burnt beyond repair.
The smell of death is in the air.
A woman weeping in despair says,
He has been here.
Tracer lighting up the sky.
It's another families‚ turn to die.
A child afraid to even cry out says,
He has been here.

And I see no bravery,
No bravery in your eyes anymore.
Only sadness.

There are children standing here,
Arms outstretched into the sky,
But no one asks the question why,
He has been here.
Old men kneel and accept their fate.
Wives and daughters cut and raped.
A generation drenched in hate.
Yes, he has been here.

And I see no bravery,
No bravery in your eyes anymore.
Only sadness.

Cry

I have seen peace. I have seen pain,
Resting on the shoulders of your name.
Do you see the truth through all their lies?
Do you see the world through troubled eyes?
And if you want to talk about it anymore,
Lie here on the floor and cry on my shoulder,
I'm a friend.

I have seen birth. I have seen death.
Lived to see a lover's final breath.
Do you see my guilt? Should I feel fright?
Is the fire of hesitation burning bright?
And if you want to talk about it once again,
On you I depend. I'll cry on your shoulder.
You're a friend.

You and I have lived through many things.
I'll hold on to your heart.
I wouldn't cry for anything,
But don't go tearing your life apart.

I have seen fear. I have seen faith.
Seen the look of anger on your face.
And if you want to talk about what will be,
Come and sit with me, and cry on my shoulder,
I'm a friend.
And if you want to talk about it anymore,
Lie here on the floor and cry on my shoulder,
Once again
Cry on my shoulder,
I'm a friend

Carry You Home

Trouble is her only friend, and he's back again
Makes her body older than it really is
And she says it's high time she went away, no one's got much to say in this town
Trouble is the only way is down, down down

As strong as you were, tender you go
I'm watching you breathing, for the last time
A song for your heart, but when it is quiet, I know what it means and I'll carry you home, I'll carry you home.

If she had wings she would fly away and another day God will give her some
Trouble is the only way is down, down down.

As strong as you were, tender you go
I'm watching you breathing, for the last time
A song for your heart, but when it is quiet, I know what it means and I'll carry you home, I'll carry you home.

And their all going crazy in New York City at night
And someone's little girl was taken from the world to light
Under the stars and stripes

As strong as you were, tender you go
I'm watching you breathing, for the last time
A song for your heart, but when it is quiet, I know what it means and I'll carry you home, I'll carry you home. (X2)

Chin up, mate! Life's too short.

Do you lot prefer the Cat Stevens version or the Yusuf and Ronan version?

I thought 'your beautiful' was quite good. Which, atleast to my mind, was probably the reason why its plaid at alot of weddings.

hmmm, perhaps i was wrong.

Back in BLACK

It seems to me that You're Beautiful was your favourite song. Maybe, you sang it to someone. Blum 3

Coldplay: they are 'OK' I guess, I liked a few of theior first songs, I think I would like them a lot more if they weren't the 'Biggest Band in the World' and up-their-own-asses in smug self-appreciation.
