New mobile phones & faults??

Salaam

I just wanted to ask you guys if you thought there was a link between newer mobile phones and the amount of technical faults they have? Is it because these newer phones are packed with more features?

I know two people who have a Nokia 6500 slide. 1 person is having problem sometimes such as the phone freezing/crashing, someone told him it was a software problem on the phone. The other person, also has the mobile on contract, he has had his phone for 2 weeks and it has stopped working and wont even come on anymore- he's handed it in to be repaired.

Do you know any other phones that have faults like this or have you had any bad experiences of your own? My mobile is nearly 4 years old, but I dont wanna upgrade it if I have problems with the new one, it works fine at the moment, so maybe if it aint broke, dont fix it?

Ive never had a problem with any of my contract phones. Hang on a minute i lie there was a time when my ribbon that connects the pad to the screen snapped but that was self induced. Could be the company your with.

Personally i prefer phones to be as simple as possible. As long as i can text, ring and it has a decent camera on it im not bothered about any other features it may or may not have.

The reason new phones often have these faults is because the mobile companies are in competition with each other. They have to rush to get the 'newest style' phone on the market, before they have properly tested it.

So if you get a phone when it has JUST been released w few weeks earlier, it is more likely to have faults. But once a phone has been out for a few months, then the companies should have ironed out most of the technical faults, so there is less chance it'll mess up.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the replies, thought I wasn't gonna get any on this topic!

I hate texting on my Samsung, it's really annoying.

My favourite text system was on Motorola, but they always seem to break quite quickly (I'm not too careful with my phone and I need one that is quite robust).

So my question is...

Can you get me a cheap deal?!

The WORST phone EVER for texting or taking photographs is nokia 8800 sirocco - as far as first impressions go, it is very aesthetically-pleasing to the eye, but thats about it. I bought it when it initially came out - bad mistake; you have to clean it every 5 minutes; store it in its pouch to prevent scratching; it is difficult and heavy to handle for a girl (I end up swapping hands when phoning); scrollability and navigation is non-existant; and the battery life is ridiculous. I dont like to complain, and alhamdulilah i have a phone, but ive been very let down by it by these things, and its my duty to warn others about it too! Other than that, its a nice phone Wink

Btw they are bugging me to upgrade, so I need to know what phones are good..?

Spot on what Yaqub said, if the phone is very new, chances are the faults will be recognised once they get feedback, so best to wait a while.

I'm geting a samsung tocco, pretty much like the iphone but you get to send MMS and its a beauty with its 5 megapixel camera. The Sony ericson C902 is pretty cool too.

So........... they modify the software on the phone?

@MeccaDLB > Ive heard the Tocco drains a lot of battery coz of the vibrational on screen touch. Is the Tocco really that good, it does look good and I am looking for an upgrade. Ive noticed lots of phones coming out that look like the Applie iPhone.

How about LG? How good (or bad) are they? Lol. The LG Viewty? Probably not good?

I've been looking thru the monthly phone magazines from Carphone Warehouse and O2 (which list all phones - contract and PAYG). CPW say they offer the cheapest deals on PAYG handsets etc. But when comparing with O2, I found that many handsets from various manufacturers were a lot cheaper if bought from O2 rather than CPW.

The differences in price was astonishing, around £100 on certain phones. I would hate to be someone who bought a phone from CPW only to find out later that u coulda got the same phone a lot cheaper from elsewhere.

How do CPW get away with this robbery? Is it bcoz they give "sim free" phones which work on all networks whereas the O2 phones will only work on O2 (unless you unlock it, which doesnt cost much ~£10)?

I ended up getting a tocco, its a beauty, however the camera quality decreases after 2 secs when its showing clear Sad

However i'm getting used to the touch screen, its pretty cool....

I'll take your nokia 8800 sirocco off you if you want! Smile that phone was all about the looks................and that's it. 8600 Luna, 8800 ARTE and 8800 SAPPHIRE ARTE are a lot better and still look good.

Well what do you look for in a phone amal? does it need a good camera? mp3 player? etc or do you just want it as simple and basic as possible with the necessary features like bluetooth?

Holla back and I'll give you my recommendation

Wow, you DO know a lot about phones lol.. Hmm well, 90% of the time I use it to phone, 10% text/camera - so reliability, ease of usage and aesthetically appealing Wink

To be honest, all I require at the moment is a better tarrif :x :doubt: My call limit at the moment is £450 (one guess why) :doubt:

The nokia 6500 classic is just as bad as the nokia 6500 slide!!! the classic battery life is crap, ive had to charge it everyday most days twice a day & if your on a call for more than 5 min the mobile heats up like mad

To be beautiful is to expect nothing in return.

Something must be wrong with your battery then snoops, it shouldnt heat up after 5 mins, thats just insane.

I'm liking my tocco but hating the camera quality (i saw 5 mega pix and though wow, but the quality decreases a lot), i'm within 14days so i can return it and exchange it for something else however i am away for the next weeek so aint going to get a chance to return it, hmmm oh it's sooo annoying!

Samsung Tocco looks nice, altho I havent had the chance to use it myself in a mobile shop. Re: the 5MP camera on tocco, it shud be a high quality cam phone, i wud be annoyed too if the quality of the pics were bad!

I tried the Apple iPhone in an O2 shop but didnt really like it. I think its too big.
