Wow... is it that time of the year again, where we start telling ghost stories.
Like people, there are also crazy and evil Jinns and as such will be out to cause harm

Theyr not ghost stories. Jinns do exist and can harm ppl if you peev them off. I have never encountered a Jinn experience but if i did i will probably be freaked out for life.

Why do people say '1 jinn' and 'many jinns'? 'jinn' is already the plural of jinni (genie).

i was gonna say dat and besides the letter 's' doesnt make summit plural in the arabic language

Most of them probably false.
Jinn are used as a bogeyman to scare kids. Unfortunately, most kids grow up and still believe the stories wholesale. I guess the next generation will also believe in Santa Claus.
Others use them as "excuses" for bad behaviour or mental illness.
I have not seen any evidence that a Jinn can harm a human, nor do I think they can "Possess" others as that would seem to go against the basic free will that Allah (swt) has granted to humans.

There is scholastic disagreement as to whether Jinn posession (of humans) is possible. (I like to keep my options open on this one personally :o )
On the other hand, we humans have the ability to gain control of jinn - Ive learnt of a method (as explained from a very respected scholar, so authentic!) (not that I will ever use it!) :doubt: :shock:

How can there be a disagreement between scholars on this subject?
Either there have been documented, verifiable cases of it happening or there are not.

Like I said, scholastic disagreement - i.e. based on evidences from Qur'an and sunnah. Documented cases and whatsnot are a secondary (and of course evidentially supportive) matter.

Unlike angels, humans and Jinns have free will. So theoretically one can interfere in the lives of the other.

one incident that happened a long time ago,
My elder brother got up in the middle of the night to visit the loo and on his way back to his room, he saw a tall white jinn praying in his room, obviously he was freaked coz i mean cmon, hes just seen a jinn, or probably back then he must of thought it a ghost!

But if a Jinn can take the form of a tree or car whats to say they cant possess humans?
Yes if a Jinn does harm/possess a human it does go against the freewill that Allah(swt) has given mankind BUT the Jinns are being tested too so if they do abuse the powers Allah(swt) has given them then clearly they will be punished for it.
Mankind does not have complete freewill anyway, some aspects of our lives are determined. Ie by making dua for something and then Allah(swt) granting it us.

Who said a jinni can take the for of a car or a tree? I think you mean Transformers.
What if you driving you car down the motorway and then it suddenly changes into a tree? you'd be killed!
Anyway, about the du'aa....We choose what we make du'aa for. If we ask Allah (swt) to make us patient/kind, then that is OUR choice. We could easily choose to make du'aa that Allah (swt) changes our Horse Chestnut into an Aston Martin.

If Jinns cant harm you then why are Muslims suppose to read Aaoodhu Billaahi min al-khubthi waal-khabaaaith when entering the bathroom? Its because they can harm humans hence why were told to read it.
Jinna do have more powers then mankind so whats to say they cant turn into a tree or car. The bad Jinns obviously have too much time on their hands so they torment humans. If i wasnt visible to mankind i would be very tempted to scare some puny human being muhahaha

Well i was trying to imagine what i would do if i was a Jinn. Ive come to the conclusion i just wouldnt be a very scary Jinn. Id probably get bullied by other Jinns for being so pathetic like Lenny (a vegi shark)did in shark tale because he wouldnt eat the fish.

Well you can fight jinns if they are weak enough but in the majority of cases they are too strong as if a body builder was to take control of a baby the body builder would be physically too strong and can control the baby, if we take this analogy and apply this to ourselves the jinn is the bodybuilder stronger than us and we are the baby unable to resist because of the might of the jinn hence being possessed but if we for example to have enough imaan and in the analogies case grow up and build our bodies to the strenght of the bodybuilder than we can resist the jinn and the analogies case the bodybuilder.

Show me evidence that possessions can happen. Til that day I will maintain that is is all a hoax.
