The Scene Magazine is now on line it is an international magazine- at present it is not available in Firefox- but is a good magazine with alot of content- read www.scenemag.co.uk
I will have to take your word for it.
I am not willing to use the monstrosity that is Internet Explorer to view that site. No one should ever have to use it.
Remember kids, everytime you use Internet Explorer, a web developer somewhere has a heart attack.
EDIT - had a look at the source and manage top get to the current issue. Mashallah you lot seem to get quite a lot of adverts.
On the other hand the only real article on there is an unsourced "summary" of an article printed in The Revival Magazine (Bollywood or Bust). Not good. Not good at all. People are free to use our articles without express permission on a number of simple conditions:
1. No changes. Cutting down to just a single section of an article is just that. A change. At this point, you are REQUIRED to get permission from either The Revival or the author.
2. Correct sourcing. This article has neither the name of the author, nor the place from where you got it. Not good.

It is more about courtesy and ethics than money. People who put in the effort to write an article should be rewarded with at least the acknowledgement that they did write it. Good manners.
In UK law anything that is written has a copyright, so that is not an issue.
Suing is not a good idea - both parties are (or should be) doing this for the sake of Allah (swt).

We could sue them for the loss of earning our magazine has suffered due to people reading the article in Scene instead.
Since both magazines are free...that amounts the same as I've recently won on the lottery.

Right and wrong.
You are not allowed to withhold knowledge. That is different from saying there is no such thing as copyright.
copy is not just about witholding information - it also makes sure people get correct attribution, rules over what changes can or cannot be made.
Afterall I am sure a book called the qur'an - which had different words on he inside - would not survive for long in the Muslim world...
Nor would it stand if someone took the qur'an, put themselves forward as the author and started distributing it.

My main problem with the magazine/website in question is the skewed ratio of adevrtising v content. Also, the magazine does not seem to know it's target market, i.e. it is promoted as a youth magazine, but I failed to find any useful/relevant topics tackling the really tought issues the youth are faced with.
Looking at the whole package, I am just getting so many mixed messages with this. It reminds me of the feeble attempts of the 80s to reach the youth, when we had amateurish leaflets/magazines in Pakistani-English which just highlighted the fact that we are losing our youth etc. without presenting any ideas on what should be done to change things. What we need in this digital age are magazines which are modern, fresh and exciting, that will attract the youth, and at the same time teach them something that is relevant to the challenges that the young people face in today's society.
There are too many people out there trying to make a fast buck in the name of Islam, I sincerely hope the brother behind this project does not fall into that category.
