Peace summit due in November is now sure to have been derailed after Iranian President threw a spanner in the works.

Israel would have offered Gaza and West Bank to Palestinians in return for peace in two state solution.

But now Iran says Israel should not only leave occupied territories, but entire Israel must be evicted from Middle East.

Ahmadinejad wants 'all Palestine liberated'

AFP - Friday October 5, 2007

TEHRAN - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad vowed on Friday Iran would work until "all of Palestine is liberated" from Israel's hands and repeated his deeply controversial questioning of the Holocaust.

"The Palestinian people are standing firm. The Iranian people and other peoples will not stop until all of Palestinian territory is liberated," Ahmadinejad said in a speech broadcast on state radio to mark Quds day.

"They (world powers) should not think that the Iranian nation and other nations in the region will take off their hands off the throat of the Zionists and their supporters."

Ahmadinejad provoked an international outcry shortly after his election in 2005 when he called for Israel to be "wiped from the map" and also described the Holocaust as a "myth".

In his speech at Tehran university, the culmination of Iran's annual day in support of the Palestinians, the president also repeated his questioning of the scale of the Holocaust.

"The Iranian nation hates killing and considers Hitler and the executioners of the World War II as black and dark figures," he said.

"But the Iranian nation has a question and as long as there is no clear and reasonable response to this question, it will remain."

Ahmadinejad also reaffirmed his opinion that "Zionists" should move to empty lands in Europe or North America and out of the Middle East entirely.

"Europeans can not tolerate the Zionists in their region and country, but they want to impose them on the people of the region... Give these vast lands of Canada and Alaska to them to create a country for themselves."

Israel, widely believed to be the only nuclear armed power in the Middle East, has expressed alarm over Iran's nuclear drive, which the Jewish state and its main ally the United States believe is aimed at making an atomic bomb.

The Islamic republic however insists that its nuclear programme is solely aimed at generating electricity for a growing population whose giant oil and gas reserves will eventually run out.

Israel was an ally of the imperial regime of last Iranian shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, developing close military and economic ties, but all this changed when he was ousted by the Islamic revolution in 1979.

Iranian officials however insist they would never initiate any military attack and say their policy has always been to let all the occupants of "Palestine" -- including refugees -- decide their future in a referendum.

Iranians chant 'death to Israel' in mass protest

Tens of thousands of Iranians marched through Tehran on Friday proclaiming solidarity with Palestinians and chanting "Death to Israel" in the Islamic republic's annual protest against the Jewish state.

Iranians of all ages began the march through the centre of the capital to Tehran University to mark Quds Day, calling for Jerusalem and Israel to be handed to the Palestinians.

Coloured bibs were handed out to protestors with the legend "Death to Israel, Death to United States" while "Palestine will only be free with fighting and faith" was the slogan on one banner.

Despite the heavily politicised nature of the demonstration, there was a festive mood with the numerous children present having their faces painted as cats and rabbits in entertainment laid on by the municipality.
"I come every year because the Palestinians are helpless and they cannot defend themselves. I come here to here to attract the world's attention to their plight," said Somayeh Salim, 27.

She was carrying an Israeli flag in her rucksack: "I am going to burn it."
The protest was due to be echoed in similar demonstrations up and down the country. The Tehran demonstration was due to culminate in a speech by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at the university.

Iran accuses Israel of Palestinian "genocide"

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran's president accused Israel on Friday of using the Holocaust as a pretext for "genocide" against Palestinians.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who outraged the West in 2005 by calling Israel a "tumor" to be wiped off the map, said the truth should be told about World War Two and the Holocaust.

Six million Jews were killed in the Nazi genocide.

"Iran condemns fabricating such a pretext (the Holocaust) for the Zionist regime to commit genocide against the Palestinian nation and occupy Palestine," Ahmadinejad said in a live broadcast to mark the annual Al-Quds (Jerusalem) Day in the Islamic Republic.

"The Iranian nation and countries in the region will not rest until Palestine is free and criminals punished," he said in the speech before Friday prayers.

Ahmadinejad has questioned the Holocaust but denied during a visit last month to the United States he was saying it never happened, only that the Palestinian issue was entirely separate.

Opposition to Israel is one of the cornerstones of belief of Shi'ite Iran, which backs Palestinian and Lebanese Islamic militant groups opposed to peace with the Jewish state.

Ahmadinejad repeated calls for Canada to accept Jews.

"Europeans cannot tolerate the Zionist regime's presence in their own region but want to impose it on the Middle East. Give them (the Jews) this vast land of Canada and Alaska to build themselves a home and resettle there," he said.

Al-Quds Day was inaugurated by Iran's 1979 Islamic revolution founder Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. It is held on the last Friday of the Muslim holy fasting month of Ramadan.

Tens of thousands marched in a rally to mark the day, including soldiers, students and clerics. Black-clad women with small children clutching balloons emblazoned "Death to Israel" were among those flocking the streets of central Tehran.

"Death to America, Death to Israel," chanted the marchers, many carrying portraits of Khomeini and his successor Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Volunteer Basij militia, covering their faces with Palestinian headscarves, marched while roaring "Hezbollah fights, Israel trembles" -- referring to the Lebanese Shi'ite Muslim group Israel fought a war against last year.

"We came here to show our support to the Palestinian nation and their resistance," said retired teacher Abdollah Hassani, 58, who joined the rally with his wife, carrying a sign reading "Israel must be obliterated."

State television showed footage of similar marches, held in cities across Iran on Al-Quds Day. Demonstrators in Tehran burned flags of the United States and Israel, which Iran refuses to recognize.

What do you think? Can Israel and Arabs ever tolerate each other?

Will there ever be peace?

It seems another Holocaust is about to take place.

I don'tt wish to see any Jews killed or harrassed because they are my cousins, and its wrong Islamically. Imam Ali forbade murder and killings.

Ayatollah rightly named America as "Great Satan".

There can be peace. If nothing else then in time we'll all die and then the animals will be in peace. Hopefully though we can do a bit better than that.

I think a single state solution where the interests of arabs and non arabs are upheld is the way forward.

Gentleness and kindness were never a part of anything except that it made it beautiful, and harshness was never a part of anything except that it made it ugly.

Through cheating, stealing, and lying, one may get required results but finally one becomes
