I should have added chechyens and the Rohingya to the list but it was getting a little long.

There are Muslims being massacred in the Central African Republic at the moment. Also in Burma. These seem to not get the same focus as say Palestine.

I think mainy people don't know about Burma/CAR etc. I think it's likely people will feel a lot for "their own" people; those from their own countries. Also the religiously significant countries so palestine, syria etc. And they will generally know more about those people because of the significance. However when you hear about people being murdered and treated in the most inhumane ways, or simply not having enough food or clean water it's impossible to not care - they are human after all, and each human life is priceless. 

But do we have it in us to realllllllly care for the people of every country? We probably do, but I just don't know how we'd deal and live with our lives if we actually did that :/ I know it sounds awful, and I obviously don't mean to be, but seriously there's so many horrible things happening in the world that if we concentrated on them all they'd consume our lives...no?

From the actual options, "Pakistani" is joint top. Wahay!!!!

What a question lol. I had to come here just to see what in the world this is supposed to mean. I would've said the people of Iraq coming from the "lots of scholars came from Kufa, Baghdad etc" perspective.

there's a lot of muslims out there, a lot of different personalities that will be touched by different things, inshaaAllah it'll even out and everyone who needs help will get it. I've often thought about this question, and I came up with the idea that if a muslim wants to help out, they should start at home and branch out from there. of course, emergency situations dont apply here.

Palestine touches the heart of everybody because the oppression is so intense, also, because its up in the media. the people who make things go viral control the thoughts of the masses.

I was just reading a blog post by London Muslim and the question of racism in the sports governing bodies was raised while discussing the 2016 Olympic host city nomination:

Today's the Day in Copenhagen when 4 cities find out if they will be chosen to host the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. The 4 cities are Chicago, Rio, Madrid and Tokyo. That's right not one Muslim city.

London Muslim has been particularly vocal regarding the conduct of London 2012 since securing the Host city contract so I thought it only appropriate to turn my attention to the 2016 Circus.

The main reason a Muslim city is not in the hat today is because of the disgraceful conduct of the IOC who excluded Doha's bid despite its clear technical superiority over some of the finalists and after Qatar hosted the widely acclaimed and successful Asian Games.

One of the reasons Muslim countries are sidelined in major sporting decisions is because of the stranglehold White European men still have on world sports. The IOC has never had a Muslim as its head and with Jacques Rogge due to stand down some white commentators have already started promoting their white favourites.

In football Fifa has been dominated by the likes of Sepp Blater who has had all manner of corruption allegations levelled against him. Blatter has been at Fifa since 1975 and was appointed its head in 1998. Another arrogant Swiss Gilbert Felli the technical director at the IOC also seems to have reached the heights of the worlds sports establishment without any obvious sporting credentials.

With the current huge level of lobbying going on to secure the 2016 bid involving no less than Obama championing Chicago its time the Muslim world united and started to ensure its sporting personalities are promoted to major positions within the leadership of world sport...

'Muslim countries' have a higher risk of terrorism?

TBH I doubt anyone gives a crap about what religion the host nation are. They go on what will make them the most money.

And if 'Muslim countries' can't do that, it's not islamophobic to exclude them from the list of finalists.

EDIT: OMG Haifa hasn't been chosen in the list of finalists either! It's an anti-semitic conspiracy!

but Qatar is a more than credible potential host. what with all these dodgy Arabs buying EPL teams, financial muscle ain't an issue.
