Jihad - The men and ideas behind Al Qaida

Something that was linked to on Tribune (I will spare the naming because if people do not like it, it may be "shaming" too).

I like it. Get past the first part or two and try to forget that there is other history there too and after that it is quite good IMO.

This is the linked episode (episode 2, you can start at the start with episode 1 ):

Just to add that while many acts of terrorism are based on revenge, which is what I said on tribune, I can also see where they can be given other legitimacy.

In a war zone, people fighting soldiers can be justified in some ways. People have a right to resist occupation.

But this still loses all legitimacy when you start killing civillians. I was surprised to learn in that docu that even Ayman Al Zwahiri was warning Abu Musab Zarqawi that his methods were wrong and would lose the insurgency its legitimacy.

EDIT - watching of Episode 1 and it is interesting as it comes at things from a differnet perspective, while episode two is about. alqaeda, this seems to be more about the theory.

and just as I am about to post this, the last few seconds of part one talk about how Muhammad ibn abdal wahaab sedt out to restore islam to its "original purity". so it may not be to everyones taste. No idea where they will go with it. Will, I have some idea...

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

People won't watch it because it sounds really boring.

But i thought it was really good.

Dead simple and interesting and stuff, LOADS of that i had no idea about.
