According to a Jewish mate of mine stoning to death for adultery was originally a Jewish tradition and it was copied by the Muslims, stoning women to death for adultery is not written in the Koran and I have NEVER come across it in a hadith, not even in the really weird, dodgy, weak ones. It is a cultural custom in most Muslim countries which is mistaken for a religious law.

okay just read the post you wrote immediately before mine, its not from the Quraan its from the Ahadis.
And how would I feel if I was a girl? if you read those Ahadis you would see the women (and guys) knew the punishment of stoning but asked for it anyway because they were sincere muslims.
I'm not going to be the one, insha Allah, to question the sincerity of your islaam, but please please realize that many of your utterances resemble those of a person not aware of the authentic proofs of aspects of Islaam.

dude i've always been controversal, dats the way i am, i have honestly NEVER read anything like that in the holy koran, i don't read many hadith though, but the koran says a 100 lashes and nothing else....
stoning to death is evil, i'm not afraid to speak against mi religion, thats the way i have always been, even mi imam is convinced i am a kaffir....
Quite frankly I don't really care

if they were sincere Muslims then they wouldn't have commited adultery, the koran says it is a 'shockingly evil path', if God was merciful he would have forgiven them....

for crying out loud.... proof of this punishment is in the hadith, which is the second primary source of Islam, if you reject , you reject Islam. Read the long list of ahadith i posted earlier in this thread from Sahih Muslim.
Only after you have read them , will there be any point of discussing it further with you.
there is proof that some hadith were written by kaffirs after muhammads death to confuse muslims, usally they are easy to spot....

What I know of the fact of stoning to death, this action is meant to be for the mercy of the person. As already stated, it very hard to proved Adultery and it much easier to gain a divorce, in islam there is no excuse for adultery as most of the need are met in islam. But if a true believer still sin, he can gain the ultimate repentance by taking his punishment on earth rather then in the hereafter. Nothing wrong with that, as u see in the hadith the people can seeking their punishment, because they wanted their repentance. By all mean you can hide it, but in the end you will gain a bigger punishment and every believer want to be even on the Day of judgment.

now u get some ppl who take that LITERALLY

if u do, maybe the devil will reinact the old days for u down in hell
St George the bible says to stone adulterers in the old testament - the new testament pretty clearly tells us not to.
Always curious on this one - how do muslims deal with the obvious differences between the message delivered by Jesus' ministry and the message delivered by Mohammeds.
Seems pretty clear that Mohammed embraced stoning through the Hadith, which thusfar everyone except Judda is in agreement on.
Here I simply point to the Editor's own words in his extensive post - as well as his first example:

The following are ahadiths from Sahih Muslim. It is obvious from the ahadith below that stoning for adultery existed at the time of the Prophet (pbuh) and carried out by the Prophet (pbuh) himself. Islamic law is based on primarily Quran AND Sunnah:
Chapter 3: PRESCRIBED PUNISHMENT FOR AN ADULTERER AND AN ADULTERESS
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Book 017, Number 4191:
'Ubada b. as-Samit reported: Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: Receive (teaching) from me, receive (teaching) from me. Allah has ordained a way for those (women). When an unmarried male commits adultery with an unmarried female (they should receive) one hundred lashes and banishment for one year. And in case of married male committing adultery with a married female, they shall receive one hundred lashes and be stoned to death.
Yet Jesus clearly stated in John Chapter 8:
1 but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. 2 Early in the morning he came again to the temple; all the people came to him, and he sat down and taught them. 3 The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery, and placing her in the midst 4 they said to him, "Teacher, this woman has been caught in the act of adultery. 5 Now in the law Moses commanded us to stone such. What do you say about her?" 6 This they said to test him, that they might have some charge to bring against him. Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground. 7 And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, "Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her." 8 And once more he bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground. 9 But when they heard it, they went away, one by one, beginning with the eldest, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him. 10 Jesus looked up and said to her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?" 11 She said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said, "Neither do I condemn you; go, and do not sin again."
Same crimes, same prescribed punishments - two entirely different actions and theological lessons total dichotomy.
If the Hadith is correct how do you get past the disconnect?
Perhaps there is precedent in that Jesus is reforming Moses - abrogating him, essentially saying the Law of Moses is wrong. But again? God changing his mind twice to go back to the original?
That doesn't make any sense at all - it's schizophrenic.
The adulteror, man or woman, has to be caught in the act by atleast four individuals with no ulterior motives.
And therre has to be a judgement cast aswell. No mob rule.
If a person has committed adultery, they must repent sincerely, and not publicise their sin. Then it is upto Allah (swt) to forgive them.

Being framed is possible, but not with the burden of proof required. If there is ANY doubt, capital punishment is a no-no.

It IS as easy as saying I divorce you. Once will suffice if it is not canceled in the time limit.
The woman can also divorce. By returning the mahr, and askign the husband to divorce her, or going to court.
saying "I divorce u" three times does NOT mean u r divorced, that is what my stupid imam said therefore i dont beleive it, i heard u had to wait for 3/4 months incase the womens pregnent...
women have to go to court to get a divorce and it is MUCH harder for them to get a divorce therefore women are more likely to commit adultery, y don't men ever get stoned to death in muslim countries?
