a fresh pair of healthy lungs is priceless and should only go to those who have had no control over their condition and nor has it been self induced.

I believe in an NHS tax opt-out for those with enough insurance. I also believe that if smokers pay a large extra sum, they are entitled to treament that does not discriminate, whatever the obvious disapproval. I believe that the NHS is mismanaged, that facilities are strictly adequate while suppliers are pinched and taxpayers made to wait, and that an opt-out would be an incentive for management not to relate to themselves as mere pen-pushers or unaccountable purveyors of big ideas. The grass roots of the NHS are good people, but just as they treat people with all manner of lifestyle-incurred problems, it is obscene to defer the treatment of an unwell smoker.

If the smoker pays for his own treatment then i dont have a problemo with that. Its their moeny they can spend it on killing themselves first then using it to cure themselves when the smoking starts to take affect. But most of these smokers are not rich and cannot afford the treatment. They are like a swarm of ticks slowly sucking the life out of the NHS. Dont even get me started on the alcoholics.

They still pay extra tax. What was it? £1.5 BILLION? I think that figure was quoted earlier on. That is alot of extra money they are dumping into the system.

You people in favour of a pick and choose health service should really erally sit down and have a good think about it.

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

The NHS is one of the best things about Britain. Sure, theres a better one in France, standards are not always perfect and it's staffed by would-be terrorists, but the Official Ya'qub Verdict is Two thumbs up.

Don't just do something! Stand there.

ive sat down had a good think and I still don’t agree. Yes they might pay extra tax but not by their own free will. The Nicotine in the cigarette takes over and forces them to do so. If they want to pay out of their own pocket feel free.
