The visual effects were nice however it ruined the computer and was annoying so I uninstalled it.
A good waste of a £150 .
I thought I'll install it at a later time when theres more updates and bug-fixes.
So WARNING, don't buy it unless you are absolutely sure!

I also like it. You can set it up as a dual boot so you can use XP and Vista. (which I did not do as I knew I would go back to XP...)
Saying that, I would advise those for whom XP works to stick with it. I am a tinkerer and I got a free upgrade coupon thingy when I bought my PC. I could not resist.
I also have Linux installed. Very good for tinkering. It does meet my needs, but well.. I waste too much time changing things to use it, so I leave Windows as my primary boot option.
PS legally buying things should be applauded.

why did you pay all that money for it when you can just download it
That is exactly what everybody says!
It saved much more hassle and provide you with peace of mind and gives you pride when you have a genuine copy.

ok some of that stuff has just gone right over my head lol.
If they didnt charge so much maybe ppl wouldnt download. They are trying to rip us off so before i gave them a chance i beat them to it
£150 isnt too bad argos are charging £400!
Home premium being the decent one for home use. Or Ultimate being the be all and end all, but costing to arms a leg and half your left eye.
I would think most people "upgrade" their Operating system when they buy a new PC.
PS Brother I hope you did not go for Home Basic. That is like XP but with less features and twice as ugly.

Nah, it was Home Premium.
My cousin has Basic and it is rubbish with nothing so special to it.
I have a HP laptop and the laptop seems to have a grudge with it.
I prefer XP as it is much quicker, simpler and easier.
The visual effects are good, such as when you minimise and maximise, the sidebar etc.
Still I don't really appreciate that flash stuff.
But I did enjoy that Chess game .

The top bar thing... do the three buttons touch the edge? do they glow? are the borders see through?
If so, it is probably Premium. You can right click the computer icon, click properties, and the "Windows edition" it will tell you what the version is.
PS for anyone interested, you can get a OEM version from £63. Just buy some cheapo computer part with it. I would advise you to avoid it though. Just stick with XP if you are happy with it.

I'm not using it at the moment but the borders were see through and it had the Windows Aero theme.
It was definitely Home Premium as it said on the box, unless my mind has gone crazy.

Ultimate is also supposed to get a load of other goodies over time. Free extra's, moving backgrounds and the like.

Linux is good depending on what you need and what hardware you have.
Only reason I have not moved over is because I am "used" to Windows.

What do you think of other OS's.
Is Vista better than Mac, how about Linux???

Never used Mac.

mac is by far the best.
ive used all the windows ones at work and when i was at school. windows 98 was ok but since then they'v been so fiddly and user-unfriendly.
mac is easiest to use, but also gives u flexibility.
and the computers look cool
Don't just do something! Stand there.
