lol yead it in the paper this morning celeb BB is back and Shalipa Shetty is in it (i hardly thought that was front page material... :roll: but apparently the Editor of the paper thought otherwise).
I watched like 10 minutes of it when i got home. Goddddd its ssssssssooooooo boring.... I kept thinking what the hell is Shalipa doing on english bb... when they already have an Indian one??? (I only found that out recently... its called Big Boss over there).

With MJs brother i heard he was a muslim so i kept on waiting to see a hint of Islam in him.... maybe he'd wear an islamic hat... or read namaaz... so far nothing. But thats only 10 minutes of watching... so.

My sisters are watching it as they watched the last celebrity one too, which I caught bits of - I expected it to be totally rubbish and boring but it was ok. But I can't believe how popular the show is - I used to work with people who stayed in every Friday and Saturday just to watch it. For the first time my sisters watched the other one too that came on, but as soon as I saw some of the people that were on it I just walked out everytime they put it on. I actually find it quite disturbing and depressing knowing that some people really are like that, I'd just rather not see it. And now they'll probably watch next years, which will only be crazier, if that's possible.
The concept is good and interesting if people are being honest but that's long gone. Now it's just a freak show and everyone has their own agenda thus it's just pointless.

That Big Brother article is brilliant. I remember the first time I read it and I was really surprised that a religious person knew so much about Big Brother, lol. It didnt quite fit the stereotype I had of 'religious people', which was a good thing. A really good thing. The way everything is related to having taqwa is brilliant - one of my favourite articles.

I've never, ever watched BigBrother.

I have tried to watch it many times, but it seems way too boring.

I don't like the psychology of this programme....it exploits emotionally vulnerable people, such as that guy with tourettes I heard about....just to make good viewing.

i agree with MS it's a load of shetty...no offence intended but her name reminds me of well come on use your imagination you must know what i'm on about. Unfortunately if the media hate her they will grab on to this name for headlines intellectual papers like the sun aherm.

I tried to watch it before i was married, but i'm sorry ppl who watch it are complete and utter saddos with no life of their own. If you have time and enough interest to sit for hours watching a bunch of strangers, eating, defecating, farting, picking their noses generally living their lives then you have no life to live. Get off the sofa live your own life and film it! there's your very own big brother.

They did discuss it on the asian network.. and they said summin that made me laugh. Shetty told jermaine do you know how they make dates like this. He said no go on tell me like he was remotely interested for some long scientific answer. She comes out with dey dryy it owt in the sun yar..(silence nothing else). Now that made me laugh...ok i'm sad it was first thing i heard in the morning loool. Jackson looked so englightened.

Also she was complaining about someone snoring she was looking for support from another house mate but that guy also said yeah so n so snores but so do you shilpa..looool. So peacegirl tell your husband his fave actress snores that's a real feminine trait..

It depends on the motive of BB as a show and how general people percieve it. The concept of BB depends entirely on how the individual person percives it and more importantly on how a society relates to it.
If you look at it on an individual basis i.e just for watching the show for entertainment preferences then it would seem nothing more then a 'game show'.
But however the more important issue in question is how society percieves it and wether or not the concept of BB (as in cameras watching you 24/7) should be considered normal and an aspect of daily everyday life.

On the whole i think that BB has opened up a new frenzy of 'reality tv' and has opened up a whole new world of how tv is now watched by their masses.
We see on a daily basis how particular people from society live their lives i.e what they eat, how much they sleep, their bad/good habits, how they view the world and these are normal people from all walks of life with different personalities, culture, backgrounds, status. All thrown in into an enviroment where they have to live with one another in an almost hostile and strange type of auro surrounding it.

In conclusion i think that BB has opened up the flood gates to a whole new phenonman that previously did not exist in our society and thus paves the way for more tv shows, and goverment legistlations on infringing human privacy and rights.

The day people start thinking BB is normal is the day we will have cameras watching our every move, recording all sorts of different information about us and it may seem useless information about us. But in reality the whole concept of "Big brother is watching over you" on society wether it be through tv shows, on the street cctv, identity cards, barcodes and greater security hype through wars and terrorism is a way of controlling individuals and society as a whole.

The more information you have on somebody the easier it is for you to control and manipulate that particular person. With such information i know their strenghts, weakness, what makes them angry, sad, happy so i then know what 'switches' to press to invoke a certain type of reaction or behaviour.

If you look at the barcode system for example it records allsorts of useful information about the transcation taking place. I.e what product was sold what weight it was, what price it was sold at, what time it was purchased. An addition to this me using my credit card being used to buy the product will hold information about where i used the certain card, what i bought, what price etc.
This information is collected up and then used for further marketing purposes to see the trends of certain items i.e who buys these items, what time are they likely to be sold etc and are then immplemented to further gain profits of the item and business in question.

This same principal is applied to BB and having relevant information about individuals and society allows the goverment to further control its people and to serve and manipulate peoples thoughts and ideas and even reactions to further gain their purpose.

What you might think as your thoughts and ideas are not actually your thoughts or ideas because they have been tampered with and have been vioalted and swayed by other people around you, tv, radio, the news, hear say, fashion, magazine, music, family allmost every aspect of your modern day life to something completely different to as how you would have percieved something if there wasnt so much influence, propaganda around you on how to live your life and percieve the world around you.

I dont watch it, however a couple of days ago i was flicking channels and saw a bit of the recap ... and check this...Jermaine was praying fajr!!! ... he was praying fajr while everyone else was asleep and i thought subhannallah!! ... i mean yeh its dumb to go in there in the first place, but the man is doing much better IN THERE than half of us do outside!!!!

and from what ive noticed, they always try to have someone in there affiliated to muslims... first there was the Ahmad dude, then Galloway, and then that [ ataghfirullah] gay so called muslim guy..forgot his name.
