lol well I just googled it and came up with some... interesting... matches - so you're not alone!

The bad news is your full name came up a bunch  ... thats not very... safe... when you have a unique name such as yours... maybe you should not put your last name in or something... you never know about the internet.

Well, rather, I never know about the internet - I dont trust it.

You're changing your name Noor!!? To what?? Can I choose?

Ive got a whole list of great names my wife rejected for the girls

Noor I aint heard of your name which was why I was confused when you asked me in the camp as to what your name was and I am came up with Noor!

MS - I aint heard of your name before but I think it's very unique and pretty

I was going to change my name after an encounter with an Arab, apparently it doesn't mean something nice when it's pronounced in a certain way Sad still deciding what to do.

It will be weird though, they proly pull me up if I do coz I have already had a name change on my birth certificate!

Sis dont u dare change your name!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was considering of changing my name to your name!

That was the nickname given to Hadrat Aisha RA by the prophet PBUH and he Nabi Kareem used to call Aisha that name.

Shyakh ul Islam likes that name sis, he gave that name to my friend hu recently had a kid. They took the baby girl to Shyakh and he gave her that name. So stick with it sis! Its a beautiful name!

I told them but thing was I knw the meaning of this name (basicaly it's what Noor said) but obviously the Arab Shaykh by the sounds of my prononciation wasn't very impressed and thought it meant something else (which i aint even gona say!) and started saying "no, no" in Arabic and I was just like "ooopsie" (coz my Arab mate when she intially heard my name thought it meant that word but it had totaly slipped my mind).

I know Noor, which is why I am gona try asking Shaykh-ul-Islam how to pronounce it properly.

Noor I think you should name yourself Zahara ( i wud re-name myself that)

So you actually know Qadri personally then? Well now I am impressed!

My cuzin is called Zara and we dnt get on at All and my lil sis is called Zainab so it wud sound 2 smillar

You also suggested Maymoona, that's very pretty. My little niece was named that by Shaykh-ul-Islam.

You just pay the solicitor for the time they've spent on you.

If you write out the change of name deed poll then it's not much but if solicitor writes it out for you then it will cost abit extra. I changed my name a while back, forgot how much it costs.

Well in that case it shouldnt cost me a thing as my dear uncle is a solicitor! Biggrin

After changing your name you have to inform your doctor, dentist, optician, school, passport office, ect.....

Gonna take you a while to do that, have fun Biggrin

I can't understand why all "muslim names" are "Arabic names"

...because most significant events surrounding the formation of Islam happened in Arabia?

not really Muhammad was told to follow the religion of Abraham

16/123 then We revealed to you: Follow the faith of Ibrahim, the upright one, and he was not of the polytheists.

33/7 and remember We took from the prophets their covenant: As (We did) from thee: from Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus the son of Mary: We took from them a solemn covenant

god sent a sent a messenger to every nation.... they couldn't have all been arabs....

also names like abu jahal are non-muslim names but still arab names

our choice of names are so limited... if you don't like Arabic names then you've bummed it

is the name Zara arabic? egyptians used to call me zahra for some reason.

Character is like a tree and reputation like its shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing.

very nice names, Isabella especially!:)

If you dont mind me asking.......how come? Did you not like your name or the meaning etc? If it was your first name, was it easy to adjust to. How about your family and friends - have they got used to it?

I dont particularly like my middle name. When I mentioned it to my Dad, who named me, he seemed really upset. He explained the meaning to me, which I knew anyway, but him saying it made me feel really guilty for telling him I didnt like it.

I added a name to my current name as my first name.... if you know what I mean, so I have a new first name. People still call me by my previous first name, now my middle name.

My dad for some reason wanted to add it. It's a hassle when filling out forms, sometimes I even run out of spaces Lol

Yep Arabic as in Fatima Az-Zahra (ra)

hey hands off the name Maimoona i got copyrights just for my daughter when i have one insha'Allah lol. Gorgeous name Biggrin

if your name hasn't got a bad meaning why change it...has yours got a bad meaning Noor?

Muslim names don't have to be Arabic in origin just so happens a lot of them are. Many muslims also keep pre islamic Hebrew names which are allowed and persian names.

I just dont like it. Its a persian name with a good meaning but i dont like the sound of it and most people cant pronounce it properly... so it just sounds Strange!!

I love the names Maymoonah, Hafsa, Fatimah, Qudsiya, Arifa, Sumayah, Ammara and Humaira so i'll prblly pick one of those.

It's such a hassle changing your name, my name was changed few days after i was born but on my birth certificate it took 5 years! (I bet dad got lazy).

So at nursery and primary one I was called Asma and at home something else, rather confusing when you're a child!

My cuzin has 2 names, one name which every1 calls at home and 1 in skool. So whenver i used to go lookin for her in skool i used to call her by her home name and every1 was like hu the hell is that!
