b) Someone has such an extensive knowledge of the Qur'an that they spend large portions of the night reciting it in prayer.[/quote]
lol, that parts quite true actually... im well jealous over how much my friend knows about Islam... he has bare time to read.
I know that aint an excuse and i prob should read those books too... but someone has to save the world... and you cant do that by reading a book... unless its a magical book.
What do you do on the weekends.
but you have to remember we're not put on the earth to save the world. we're here to (try to) follow the strait path back to our Lord (swt). The Qur'an (and other books that discuss issues that are raised in the Qur'an) are like maps that can show us the strait path.

hhhmmm then my map must be different from yours.
Coz mines screaming 'Save the World'... or it could be 'Save the Squirrel' i cant quite tell... But i suppose until a Fat japanese guys appears with a samurai to give me a message. I'll run with 'Save the World'... it just makes more sense then the other one... im not good with animals.
Its not gonna be much of a world if it all goes to pieces... besides we all have different roles to play... same book... different roles.

i like 'save the squirrel' actually...
but whats the point of saving the world? Allah (swt) will destroy it and put us in either Paradise or the Hellfire. I think its much more important just to make sure we try to fulfill our obligations, (5 pillars), do some extra on top (voluntary prayers etc) and then be nice to people.

Becoz my good friend:
‘All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing’
Just becoz we know the worlds gonna end eventually doesnt mean we should sit back and let evil run rampant like The Saint of Killers on dope.
If not to make the world better for yourself then to make it better for someone else.

Went to Southall yesterday. Bought an outfit and a couple of scarfs. Me and my sisters did quite well with the whole bartering thing even though Mum wasn't with us and our Punjabi isn't all that never mind our Hindi. There isn't none of that in my town, in fact the shopkeepers would be really offended if you suggested they were overcharging you.
Got some people round atm. I've sneaked off... conversation was getting a bit boring. It's really difficult making conversation with someone over from Pakistan who you don't know very well for over 3 hours. I think I've done ok, she's really sweet bless her.

I went to do matam on sunday. A jaloos was held in Manchester for Fatima daughter of Prophet, peace be upon her. Some sunni mates came along as well.
What do you do on the weekends.
i thought you do matams in muharram, or is it all year round?
What do you do on the weekends.
Generally its about 3 times a year.
Matam can be done as much as you like. Its all about mouring and weeping for Prophet Muhammad's holy family. Peace be upon them.
Sunday was for his holy daughter, Fatima, peace be upon her. It was much smaller then a Muharram jaloos.

Spain! it was Granada which was the last place the Muslims controlled before they were expelled to Morocco.
I recommend anyone/everyone going there if they can, to the AlHambra Palace in Granada

Asalamualaikum,
Jealousy is a very dangerous emotion, as Muslims we should only ever feel jealous if:
a) Someone has lots of money which they spend in the way of Allah (swt).
b) Someone has such an extensive knowledge of the Qur'an that they spend large portions of the night reciting it in prayer.
With this in mind, I would like to give you all the opportunity to practice not-being-jealous by telling you that while you were all sitting on the bus, doing housework, trundling round the shops etc etc etc on saturday, I was here:
