The Revival Issue 7 - OUT NOW!!!
Read the Aliyah and Jamila article.
Very good effort. but. I didn't like it. I can understand its relevance because girls can be such a weird species at times. but the whole article, I felt it had departed from The Ali and Jamal style.
These two can spread a few issues of the magazine with their own issues but the way its done should change.
Here's why I didn't like it:
And how exactly is your unemployed boyfriend who only passed 2 GCSE’s gonna fund your extravagant lifestyle?
Fair point but to me thats backbiting.
Don’t ruin your rep in society over a dosser.
Fair point but for me terms like 'rep in society' still bring back the trauma.
Everyone talks about such people.
Fair point but the trauma issue again
chat crap
Its not the first word I have the problem with.
How comes no one ever talks about me?
Big no-no
You know why. It’s coz
Should have made this more subtle e.g maybe its coz...
You know why guys don’t check me out. It’s coz I don’t dress like you. My clothes are always loose and my hair is always covered. People know that I’m a Muslim so they don’t even go there…but with you, how do I even know that you’re a Muslim? You could be a Sikh or Hindu girl…
another one to avoid. 'Holier than thou' doesn't work in 21st century England.
Sort those things out and and I think you've got a good regular.
Things I liked:
Ali has been sent down for 18 months for selling Cannabis
Its funny and hard hitting.
My baby’s different innit. We went to get some munch once from the chippie and he let me share his chips. He also thinks I’m a boff. That’s why he makes me do his homework. He is SO romantic too, he makes me top up his phone every week
funny stuff.
When you get decked up like a Bollywood heroine and go out, guys check you out. You KNOW that – you ain’t thick. It’s irrelevant whether or not you’re a decent girl. Most people judge others based on their appearance, so do you really want to be judged on your size, shape and beauty? Guys will not wake up one day and have a new sexual orientation. How you dress can either put off or encourage unwanted attention from guys. So why play the game?
This summed up the advice, this is all that was needed in my opinion.
The jokes were all good. Female readers probably appreciated it more than I do. Jamila is an in the closet desi.
My main problem is one of 'people will say this'
However I understand to females that sort of thing matters.

i get ur backbiting comment
but nothing is more important than a girls rep in society
its sumin thats a big deal to em
and its also sumin thats a serious issue to them - every aunty talkes about the 'bad girls' and it makes my blood boil
btw if everyone hates aliya and jameela
i think we should bring back ali wannabe and jamal and scrap them two girls
all the feedback ive had for this has been wicked - but all my contacts are girls
but make sure u proper sort them boys out when u bring them out
they've been lame over the last couple of issues
The Revival Issue 7 - OUT NOW!!!
but nothing is more important than a girls rep in society
But should we be promoting such vanity?
I will be honest and say I have not read the article. I will try to read the next one and give feedback so it can be improved...
But I like the concept of change. Ali & Jamal was getting a little stale. This was a change of formula. there are just some teething troubles which are to be expected. Not to mention that some people do not liek change.
i dont get how its vanity?
in the past Mr Admin I've been accused of all sorts
talking to 'boys' when its really been my uncles - my MAHRAMS
bunking schools when its been a school trip
etc etc
its sumin that all girls face
its not a vanity thing
its a issue-
knowing that someone out there is talking negatively about you or even slandering u IS a serious issue
and a reality

I have now received about 50 copies which I will either try to build into some kind of fort, or distribute amongst the 'nicer' half of London (NW).
I thought the Bollywood article was very interesting and well-written.
I think the whole fuss kicked up about the 'Aliya and Jameela' article proves finally, beyond all doubt, that girls are just not as funny as boys!! (don't worry, I'm only joking. probably.)
Think about it, how many 'funny' women are there compared to men? All the women comediennes are quite masculine or play masculine characters eg Jo Brand, Catherine Tate, Jonathon Ross etc.
Any women wanting to chastise my rampant sexism please feel free to do so, as long as you make some sort of attempt to be funny in your reply (NEVER gonna happen...)

Two more article are now online. "Bollywood or Bust" and "Who will you stand with?".
Only the two Q&A's to go now.
The Revival Issue 7 - OUT NOW!!!
It's a good selection of articles. The Bollywood one has a couple of silly points and I thought the X-Men one was a bit paranoid. There's a couple of things I disagree with but it's well put together. Congratulations on this latest issue.

Thanks.
Considering none of us are professional writers that is high praise indeed.
The Revival Issue 7 - OUT NOW!!!
You're welcome.
The Revival Issue 7 - OUT NOW!!!
As a Muslim, trust me the Who Will You Stand With? article was not paranoid. It is reality. That was one of my favourite articles in Issue 8.

Can I borrow your time machine?

You mean the current issue....issue 7!
Easy to be confused, it doesn't say what issue it is on the cover....although it did for the previous issues. It does say March/April 07 but I just assumed 07 to be the year.
Btw I skim read admin's article and still don't get it, what is this 'cure'?
The Revival Issue 7 - OUT NOW!!!
Oh ok.
I didn't get his reply - so I thought I'd just go along with it.
It's quite deep.....but you thought that olham primary care trust advert was an article! Soz, but that's hilarious. 😂
That 07 was the issue number, but I get what you mean.
The Revival Issue 7 - OUT NOW!!!
Don't worry I get what you mean.
When people say something you don't understand you just say "yeah" to go with the flow. Good tactic to use in situations where you want to look intelligent 😛 (last bit wasn't about you.)
I read the magazine online and didn't have the actual magazine with me at the time. So I was only able to view a small section of the page and read it. I must have either missed the word 'Advertorial' or assumed it to be a mistake. Anyway, who makes an advert which is 2 pages long.

Another thing I have to give you kudos for - you actually read the thing. I. Just. Cannot. get myself to read it atm.
I like the cover. A thing of beauty. Not the cars; but the summery colours.
The whole point was to really acknowledge the fact that there are extremists in Muslim Society. and there are those who are also too liberal. being seduced by either is easy, but not always the right thing.
More introspection on the Muslim community than any external influence.
Of course that is what I meant to write - no idea how well I did that.
The Revival Issue 7 - OUT NOW!!!
There's always a first time
Don't worry, your article wasn't that bad.
The Revival Issue 7 - OUT NOW!!!
any more feedback for issue 7?
The Revival Issue 7 - OUT NOW!!!
I felt this issue touch on the most up to date and relevant issues that are in today's Muslim youth society. For example the msn conversation in which I emphasise I was very impressed and pleased by as this is a very common practice in which most Muslim youngster are indulging into these days. All you seem to hear in school is about msn..
Msn in which reminds me nowadays Bebo and Hi 5 in which I'm sure you must have heard of. A place where individuals put up pictures of them selves so that the world can view them. This in which they then accept people to write back saying how nice they looking. In my eyes a place of fitnah a place of shaytan. Shocking thing is that is seems to be the Muslim youth that seem to be dominating it all. This is something you could consider putting in the next issue. Not sure think one of the previous issues has had an article about hi 5 (to lazy to check previous issues) but if not its worth considering. The niqab article very enlightening but must say it was the bollywood article that did it for me.
Aliya and Jameela conversation was FANTASTIC 😃 .I really enjoy reading it very funny but so true at the same time. I couldn't wait to start distributing the revival magazines out.
Feedback from friends was all in all good, a favourite in being the aliya and jameela article.
Well done to all those that contributed towards the making of this issue.
Would write more but need to revise.

The Revival Issue 7 - OUT NOW!!!
At long last I have put the final two articles online.

The Revival Issue 7 - OUT NOW!!!
admins on a roll these days, have u finally got bored of doing nothing? 😉
The Revival Issue 7 - OUT NOW!!!
No.
I couldn't fit everything that needed to be done around my working hours, so I booked some holidays from work to get this backlog of work cleared.
There is a lot to do and unfortunately only I can do it.
Of course I also set the workload - so that may be a flaw in me.
(I am totally not good at taking orders. Never have never will.)
