Assalamu 'alaykum,
Sine everyone has been talking about buying presents and gifts for thier lovely mothers do you have any ideas for unique and original gifts that you could buy for people?? Not flowers, or chocolates, but something TRULY original and distinctive...
...something like THIS (i LOVE this smell)
May Allah shine sweet faith upon you this day and times beyond. May your heart be enriched with peace, and may your home be blessed always. Ameen.
They are very nice gifts, I love the beads, but how expensive!!!
Coming up with original gifts is quite difficult though. I normally just stick to perfume or jewellery. One year I got both my sisters a bangle box complete with bangles, I wasn't sure what they'd think but they both loved it. Last year I got one of them a watch, the other wanted money.
I will need to buy an engagement gift for a cousin soon and then a wedding gift. I don't want to get anything for the future house and don't want to get the usual wedding album either. I am quite stuck, so any ideas welcome.
if u have a big yard and it's for a family member plant a tree in your loved ones name get a small plaque engraved and put it near the tree.
I love bonsai trees so if u can't afford big trees or don't have a garden then these are lovely gifts. They can be very cheap or very expensive depends if you go for a new seedling or a tree thats ancient.
Get a piece of jewellery engraved with their initials and short message they're timeless gifts. If money is tight getting your loved ones wedding band engraved without them knowing is so sweet.
i love sensory gifts. An ornamental Bukhoor burner . You know the incense looks like bits of coal u burn it? Well make sure you don't burn the house down. i think it's a nice gift as long as you go for the pure bukhoor not immitation they smell of wood otherwise. It can be a bit expensive.
I love paintings so you could have islamic caligraphy, or a historic place of worship but why not a landscape or nature painting i like a lot of the Monet pieces.
Really depends on who it's for and what they like....
I think she might be a bit like 'I've got married, not died' if I did that, lol.
She'd like that, but it's more of a house gift, and I think she'll be moving into her in-laws. I could get that when they get their own place. That's a really good idea, thanks!!
That's more what they'd do for each other though, isn't it. I'm not sure it's my place to do that. :?
I don't even know what that is. .
Yeah, I'd like to get her some islamic art, but again I see it more of a house gift.
She likes clothes, jewellery, but I'd like to get something for both of them not just her. I suppose it's just house stuff then.
oh it's for a couple getting married. well ppl normally give house gifts coz then both of them can appreciate or use it.
Or if you have the budget two separate gifts for each. When my best mate got married i gave her some jewellery nothing for her husband lol. i was honestly skint after i bought that gold. If i had the money i'd have bought him something too.
My mate however gave me a house gift, a pair of marakesh ornamental lamps they're gorgeous.
I suppose it's predictable but an islamic book is something they can both use, and if it's not much u can get ur friend something extra. ppl always give behishti zewar coz it's often used for fiqh reference wudu, ghusl, prayers, how to treat ur spouse etc lol. How about a Quran in an ornamental box ever seen them beautiful gifts! example : http://cgi.ebay.com/Islamic-Leather-Koran-Quran-Box-Islam-Muslim-Arabic_...
p.s Bakhoor is incense that you can burn. You get an ornamental burner with it. Nowadays u can get electric burners to reduce fire risks i suppose. Most islamic shops have them. You can get some online but only the real silver ones tend to be pretty online..least that's all ive ever found. Offline you should be able to find them. It's sometimes called oodh burner.
that same ebaystore has a lot of nice gifts have a browse through it, there are pretty prayer beads which are cheaper than the ones you looked at previously check it out.
Flowers, chocolates, jewellery, clothes, perfume gift sets etc etc are very ‘typical presents.
I value things that have a sentimental value…something that shows that a lot of thought has gone into this present…something that you want to keep forever.
When I finished my teaching placement I got lots of ‘typical’ gifts, but the gift I loved the most was this large colourful book…where every child in the class wrote a short paragraph about how much they’re going to miss me and drew pictures of me.....and that was the 'cheapest' thing I recieved, but its most prob the only thing I’m going to keep forever.
Like Yash also said, engraved jewellery is a timeless gift.
But also, it depends very much on a person’s personal taste and interest too…I for one, love to receive books as gifts and also Islamic artwork (more so, if I had my own house).
What matters the most is the amount of thought and effort that has gone into buying the gift...not how much it costs.
BTW how comes girls are so much easier to shop for than guys?
Thanks yash so much!!
I know what I'm going to get - A Quran in an ornamental gift box! She's going to love that, it'll be for both of them and they can use it in their in-laws house and their own. Thanks!
Now an engagement gift! This will be just for her, she likes her jewellery so may get something engraved for her.
Hhmm guys are really hard to buy gifts for. Also although you can get something nice for a girl for about 30 quid, it's impossibe to get something nice for a guy at that price. We always get our brother a gift set of aftershave or something, but my sisters wanted to get something different this time, we saw a watch but it was almost 200 quid so we gave him vouchers for a designer shop instead, we could only afford a top from there so we thought he could at least them towards whatever he wanted.
It depends who you're buying something for.
Example: one of my friends is a huge Man Utd fan so i bought him shares in Man Utd.
I had another friend who was a wrestling fan... i bought him tickets to a wrestling match.
A friend who loved movies... i bought him VIP tickets on opening night to a movie. Food, drinks etc all included.
I had a friend who was really religious i bought him an electronic quran that he has kept with him since.
Key is its gotta be personal... buying something like that shows you know the person that your listening and before you know it .... it will start coming naturally.

You're very thoughtful.
Hey that's a really good idea, my brother's really into films. Was that at just a normal cinema or at a premiere?
Yep, those are quite unique and thoughtful.. :--) i guess with the male species, you almost automatically start thinking of things like aftershave, or something from the gadget shop haha
my brother got VIP tickets to see a pakistan vs england? cricket match at Lords once - he got to meet the players as well.. (crckets always a winner with asian folks :--P )
Its hard to find the really beautiful ornate Qurans that they sell 'back home' - ive been looking lol.. let me know if you find one inshaAllah - it sounds like a beautiful gift (plus you gain barakah each time they use it as well - works in your favour too muhahaha!)
May Allah shine sweet faith upon you this day and times beyond. May your heart be enriched with peace, and may your home be blessed always. Ameen.
It was a premiere opening night tickets. Basicly the first day the movie was released.
