Advertising Standards?

I was reading about this earlier on another website funny enough, when you say the women were fully naked are you sure about that? Are we talking full frontal nudity, or were there 'assets' covered in some way?

I've not seen the posters myself so until I do I am unable to comment as to their content, but there are rules governing advertisments, and laws governing public decency. No way would complete nudity be allowed on public display in this fashion.

If you feel the advert offends general good taste and decency you can complain to the advertising standards authority, they have a website at http://www.asa.org.uk/asa/

However, I cannot condone wanton acts of vandalism, like those idiots at MAAD get upto just because the sight of a bit of female flesh makes them blush!

I'd be very interested to see what all the fuss is about though, can't imagine its anything too shocking.

Incidentally, I notice this picture appears to be advertising the show on an Iranian website. Are the iranian Muslims not so offended by female nudity???

it seems this website is made by, and for, iranians outside of iran i.e. those who are against the islamic republic. so obviously they'd do anything to give it a slap in the face which apparently involves being as unislamic as possible... :roll: (i suppose they could even be non-muslim iranians)

if women walked down the street like that-covering their "assets" in the same way they'd get arrested for indecent exposure

yet diff rules apply for billboards in ur face

advertising is getting really bad, there are lots of bad adverts now. I think there should be a limit.

I know, funny that.

Mind you, being a picture on an advert its less likely that their assets will become inadvertantly uncovered if you catch my drift.

Regarding complaints to the ASA it comes down to wether or not the advert in question was offensive to general 'good taste and decency'.

Assuming the ad was of the picture I posted, personally I don't find anything offensive or indecent about it. However, I'm not sure wether it is appropriate for putting up on 20ft billboards.

I suppose the question here is should the advert be removed because it is offensive to general good taste and decency (which possibly it might be), or should it be removed because a section of the muslim community are offended by it (in which case no IMHO).

If someone finds a particular advertiseent offensive or distasteful, what does their religion have to do with it?

deceny and morality is linked to religion

It is possible for people of no religion or very little religious faith to be decent people. It's not as simple as a choice between decency v indecency, good v evil.

I agree

but what i meant was if i walked down the street and became embarssed over some bilboard

i wouldnt know if this is due to my inherent level of decency or if this is what islam has taught me
