For those who do not know, this place is to talk about nothing. Nada. Zilch. And everything else which according to you does not deserve it's own topic.

The other one was getting a bit long, and was just full of bickering now.

So we have a new start.

The bickering in the Old no topic should not be carried over to here.

So that was disappointing, i showed up 35 minutes late (only got to the q&a time) and as it turns out it was khameini it was katami! He didnt go on about the great satan or jews or anything... that was disappointing. Instead he talked about peace and nonviolence and all that warm fuzzy nonsense.

Waste of an evening! I should have taken Annette to the docks for seafood!

You should have done your research. Khatami is big on civilisational dialogue.

But would you rather he played up to the stereotype?

BTW Isn't "peace and nonviolence and all that warm fuzzy nonsense" what any US president would talk if he went to Iran?

Feel free to go through ALL of my posts, and find even ONE post where I’ve insulted Shazan, or have provoked him into calling me a Zombie.

Find even one insult or “hate” that I’ve directed towards the brother.

And regarding judgements, and assumptions….I’ve lost count of the amount of times you’ve repeatedly accused us of being brewli. When most of us here do not follow the Brewli aqeedah…

lol hes big on [i]talking [/i]about civilization dialogue. The first round of questions were pretty easy on him and he was able to talk about peace and happyness and gumdrop castles in the sky. Then they started asking him why if he is so against violence his government sponsered Hezbollah.
Or why if he believes in tolerance his country executes homosexuals? And a variety of fun questions that didnt seem to fit into the ideology he was presenting thirty seconds before.

"I believe in peace and stuff" works great when you are speaking philosophically, however when confronted with concrete situations to practice what you preach most people wilt, Khatami is such a person.

I have to say despite the overwhelming negativity of my posts thusfar
(baring in mind thats 75% grumpyness out of hunger, and another 20% good old fashioned jingoism) I was left with a much more favorable impression of the Iranians than when I came in. I realize its difficult to practice what you preach but at least hes honestly preaching it, i dont get the feeling he was lying to us about his beliefs, just that he had a completely warped perspective about how that ties into the political decisions his country makes sometimes.

Basically I think they may be room to talk, Iran from his description seems willing to swallow its pride and make some serious capitulations if we do likewise with certain things.

I also learned I hate liberals far more than I ever thought. They're all traitors. Except Annette of course... i'll make a good republican out of her eventually though.

I dont know what Bush would talk about if he went to Iran. He would probably talk about democracy and not hating muslims et cetera then field questions about americas unconditional support for "the zionists" and why does america keep invading countries.

Im just a law student, I went to dartmouth for undergrad, the kennedy school is all the political geniuses, im certainly not their caliber about these issues.

I didnt recognize the moderator for the evening he might be dean of the kennedy school but ive never seen him, talk about an academic geek - i kept cringeing every time he said "ahmed een Jihad" for the name of the present president of Iran.

Med has been banned.

Two days later (or was it next day?) Shazan was banned.

The old No topic has been locked with a few other topics. The Shazan banning topic seems to have been accidentally deleted.

related topics are Brelwis Vs Deobandis, Is the Ummah lacking Adab?, Independence day, the old NO TOPIC and a couple of others.

The worst thing was both self destructed in the face of no opposition. Most members were away at the time Med decided to launch into his diatribes.

After he got banned, Shazan decided he was angry, and needed to attack someone. Anyone. and went on the offensive. Kamilah decide to join him, but I just ignored her as she was being responded to forcefully by others.
