What Did You learn Today?
Salaam
It is said that "knowledge is what you hear from the mouths of men as they only repeat the best of what they have heard"
I think it’d be useful to post tid-bits of invaluable information-religious/non religious here in this thread.
It can be stuff that you learnt in work/Uni/Mosque/in a talk/something a wise elder told you/a life experience or something that you suddenly realised.
It can be minor or major stuff. It has to be stuff that you never knew before.
Today I learnt…
1-Why I shouldn’t trust, join or think highly of the Sufi Muslim Council
2-It’s quicker for me to get to Uni by Car than public transport.
3-Rubicon Pomegranate juice is tasty and apparently very good for you.
4-Spending so much time typing on computers leads to illegible handwriting and poor spelling
5-Being in the spotlight on a regular basis results in a higher chance of insincerity in actions and can negate all good work.
Keep this thread updated regularly…
Wasalaam

Been a little harder since getting back from Umrah. leaves little to no time for other stuff.

i learnt today that when my mum said that ppl always have two faces now i know what she meant.

I’ve learnt that I’m terrible at disciplining others – even though, good behaviour is stressed in all my lessons throughout the day.
I find it difficult to discipline specific bad behaviour cos I often find the ridiculousness of the situation downright hilarious.
In my Eid lesson a few weeks back, I played some Islamic Nasheeds whilst the kids worked. And then I spent half the lesson yelling at them cos they couldn’t stop dancing.
I told my class to do sequence, cut and stick some story in their books – one boy started to cut his hair – I yelled at him, but found it amusing. He was meant to cut up a story – but decided that cutting his hair was a lot more interesting. ..he now has a bald patch in the middle of his head like a old man.
I shouted at a girl the other day who wouldn’t stop trying to kiss the boys in the playground – the boys were complaining about unwanted advances – I was trying to hide my smile and yell at her the same time…imagine being a girl and being yelled at for harassing boys in the playground.

I blame you. Or someone else who would always make the tea for him.
Us guys will only like to do the bare minimum. Why make our own tea when someone else would do it for us?
What Did You learn Today?
i could never say to dad make your own tea! can u imagine his reaction.
bro blackmails me, he says if i don't such and such thing for him he won't do owt back for me. so it works both ways.

Very true.
If my brother had his own way - we'd be cooking four hot meals for him a day, ironing his clothes, cleaning his bedroom, giving him lifts to Uni/to mates houses, doing his personal shopping and even doing his coursework.
Unluckily for him, his sisters always tell him to 'get lost'.
Although, that doesnt stop him from asking us 24/7.
Mum gives in to his demands - if he wants a fruit salad waiting for him when he gets home from Uni. Its usually there - she often tries to speak to us on his behalf (do his uni work, hoover his room etc)
But it never gets done.
Dad is a different issue. Other than making his tea - he never asks any of his kids to do anything for him - he irons his own clothes, cleans his own car etc And since he's dropped us/picked us up from college/school since we were kids, taught us everything...making his tea is the least we can do for him.

I realised today how much I love the fast life of london, the noise, the congestion, the coffee shops, the traffic, the way people are always on the go, always busy etc
And thats after spending some time in a 'dead countryside' where time/life and people dont seem to move.
Someone I know got married in a tiny village, where shops are miles away...she was so unhappy and homesick that she even broke the marriage off. :?
