What Did You learn Today?

MuslimSister

Salaam

It is said that "knowledge is what you hear from the mouths of men as they only repeat the best of what they have heard"

I think it’d be useful to post tid-bits of invaluable information-religious/non religious here in this thread.

It can be stuff that you learnt in work/Uni/Mosque/in a talk/something a wise elder told you/a life experience or something that you suddenly realised.

It can be minor or major stuff. It has to be stuff that you never knew before.

Today I learnt…

1-Why I shouldn’t trust, join or think highly of the Sufi Muslim Council

2-It’s quicker for me to get to Uni by Car than public transport.

3-Rubicon Pomegranate juice is tasty and apparently very good for you.

4-Spending so much time typing on computers leads to illegible handwriting and poor spelling

5-Being in the spotlight on a regular basis results in a higher chance of insincerity in actions and can negate all good work.

Keep this thread updated regularly…
today i learnt that being dead is scary. i realised that i would be alone with spiders and worms in my grave
Who told ya that?! Being dead shouldn't be a scary thing. If we have been good Muslims and have practiced Islam in its completeness, followed the Quran and Sunnah, obeyed Allah swt and his Messenger PBUH and if we have made Allah swt happy then we have nowt to be worried about Insha'allah. However if you have been bad Muslims then the punishment of the grave awaits you and theres no running from that.

May Allah forgive us and protect us from the punishment of the grave and save us from the torment of the hell fire.

zara — Sat, 11 Nov 2006 - 22:36

come on Noor, the grave is going to be covered with spiders!!!

i'm scared of spiders

Noor — Sat, 11 Nov 2006 - 22:52

Spiders?

Your body rotts away. You end up in a place called Barzak, it's a place between Jannah and Jahanum and there you wait till the Day of Judgement. Death is a lengthy subject and i dont no much about it, Insha'allah when i no more will post up the facts.

zara — Sat, 11 Nov 2006 - 22:55

but what about spiders! if my body is in the earth, then surley the spiders will be there too? in the ground?

zara — Sat, 11 Nov 2006 - 22:59

it takes time for a body to rot away, does it rot as soon as it touches the earth? or will the spiders torture me before that?

Noor — Sat, 11 Nov 2006 - 23:07

Zara there wont be spiders and worms in your grave! Your going to be in a box! (thats only if ya living in the uk). Asoon as you die your soul is freed and goes to barzkh.. this death thing and the punishment of the grave thing is kindoff confuzing.. i dont really understand how that all happens.. not to worry, we'll all find out what actually does happen once we're dead.

Can sum1 plz shed some light on this issue plzz.

Jazakmullah khair.

I learnt that ignorance truly is bliss.

I was driving in an unknown area today following the instructions of my friends like a sheep….I took a right like they told me to, only for all my girlfriends to start shrieking.

I was too busy concentrating on my driving, trying to figure out why cars were coming towards me and not giving me way, and blowing their horns at me…so I ignored my friends, whom I assumed were girls who liked to shriek for the fun of it….only to realise WAY later, that I had turned into a one-way main road….had I known at the time, I wouldn’t have calmly driven on, ignoring the other drivers.

I also learnt that Sari’s are SO unbelievably elegant and feminine…however utterly impractical.

How did u manage to turn urself around?
Its hard to explain...basically, my friends said "right", and I turned right not realising that its a roundabout which means I need to go left and ALL around the circle to get to my exit on the right.....I turned right and ended up facing oncoming traffic who were all going round the roundabout the way they should.

So, luckily for me I did end up where I was supposed to be going, I just took a short cut 😃

Noor — Mon, 13 Nov 2006 - 18:04

Salaam

today I learnt about the unilateral Laplace transform (specifically for differential equations)

AAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had to teach it myself because of...erm well I'm sure you can guess why.

Anywho because my former psychology tutor says 'sharing is caring' I want you guys to suffer *cough* share some too.

The guy called laplace didn't actually come up with the transform, Leonhard Euler did. Who in my opinion was even smarter than Einstein!

It basically turns functions into Laplace style equivelnts which can then be worked on algebraically rather than with calculus, then when you're done you invert your answer to get the actual answer. 😃

Alhamdulillah I am so glad I understand it. 😃

Today I learnt that whilst teachers have a RIGHT to opt out of teaching RE (religious education) if they wish.

However, when it comes to sex education, they have no such right.

Teaching awareness, tolerance, respect of other religions is apparently not as important as teaching kids about dodgy stuff.

I've also learnt that a expensive suit can do wonders for a trampy teenager.

MuslimBro — Fri, 17 Nov 2006 - 01:21

I learnt that:

- I can survive without my car.....for a few weeks.

- I can do my coursework in a few days.

- I don't need to watch TV everyday.

Bliss — Fri, 17 Nov 2006 - 19:49
