seriously we dont eat slug, its like this chutney thng somethng called bori, plz someone help me
Beatle nut/phaan
Do people even eat slugs ?
Beatle nut/phaan
Sorti,is it quite dark in colour deep brownish red? It comes in sheets the size of a paan leaf or bit bigger and it;s kind of sweet in taste? That's made of mango as far as i know, and there's a type made from tamarind usually used in cooking. The mango one is norm eaten without cooking. Lots of pregnant women swear it's good for you. I think it's quite nice. In fact you can get this stuff in supermarkets in dried fruit section if u look hard enough, but it'll cost a lot and won't be as good as the bengali stuff.
It also comes in a string like form, like sour string sweets. I don't really like that form of it. It tends to be a bit more bitter.
As for Bori..do you mean bor-roy? Black dried berries of some sort? when you bite into them they're deep red? Often bitter sweet and used in fish curries as a delicacy. An acquired taste i'm not mad about these but i can eat them if forced. Again preggy bengas crave for this one...my sis did she'll kill me if she knew i'd told u guys loool.
P/s The French prob eat slugs they eat frogs afterall.
Beatle nut/phaan
yesssssssssssss,i love you soooooooooooooo much sis, thank you u described it perfectly, i love it ever so much thank you for such a fantastic description
Beatle nut/phaan
np 😃 love you too sis!
Beatle nut/phaan
Tenga and bor-roy yes, we got a suitcase full of that when we came from back home. Very cheap if you buy in bulk. It looks disgusting and is very strong in taste, people who eat it first time won't like it. I've got some if anyone wants it.
What's sorti?
Beatle nut/phaan
yeahhhhhhhhh, i want, i want, iv been dying for some, i remember we in school we used to mke tenga chutney n hav it in school.
Sorti, is made from mango, basically they mash the mangoes up,n they spread it out on a flat surface, n leave it to dry when the first layer has tried they put another layer on n carry it on for a few times, its that thng that looks like floor tiles, wiv so many layers you can peel off, its more sweet tasting,
last time we went back home we had a whole luggage full of it, n staff at heathrow get freaked n only let us tke a bit back
Beatle nut/phaan

can you explain to me why bengalis like to eat slugs? Is it because they are present in great abundance in the rivers, lakes and waterways of the homeland and hence are readily and easily available.
Imagine going to a deshis house and being offered a plate of greasy thick black slimy slug.
nassty.
Beatle nut/phaan
