New Commitment

The Great 100

By all means respond or add your own.

Somewhere inside my head I am capable of resolving any issue I care about. In reality that cannot always be so, realistically because I can't be everywhere at once, and ideologically because one of my guiding principles allows people the space to do what they like so long as it isn't causing harm. Also I am not often empowered by other people to take charge, it is necessary in any case to be open to the views of others, and systems are in place that work better than crowning The Great 100. Having said that it is still possible to effect great change and this involves being a great and responsible communicator, knowing what resources are available, and reliably following up commitments with action. However I find that my existence is a lot shallower, and I have been a person with lots of goodwill who is essentially unreliable. Habits from late nights and oversleeping to refreshing this page for replies when in fact I have promises to fulfill. If I am painting and writing poetry it is all very well to relax and be inspired or to get out just for the sake of experience, but nobody really great can allow themselves to be so easily waylaid by their own habits, thoughts, whims. It is the life of a waster or a crank. I bet when Tony Blair or Ehud Olmert or for that matter Mahmoud Abbas say they are going to be somewhere there is a very high probability that they are there. I bet when they say they are going to do something there is a high probability that they will do it. I have lots of love to give and it is wasted if after sharing a little here and there I retreat into my own little world. I am sick of my own little world. So my commitment, which I will also make to wonderful family and friends who know me very well and who are still giving me the space to do great stuff, is to be like those powerful guys, to relate to myself not as a bumbling artist but as a king among men, to be reliable and effective no matter what. As well as having lots of love and a little creativity I am reliable and effective.

Thank you!

part of being a great communicator involves using paragraphs when writing text.

That is a bit heavy, MuslimSisLilSis! I get into the flow of whatever I'm writing and in fact that one wasn't anything like the longest. I will try to keep it in mind.

That is a good personal mission statement.

Don't forget to keep us updated. If you are successful, you never know, you may encourage us to follow by being less dreamy, and more action oriented.

The Great 100 — Wed, 7 Jun 2006 - 00:31

Thanks Admin, I'll keep you posted!

razor, it's funny you should say that because the Queen is my love-child! It is wonderful being able to bear one's soul anonymously.
