Reading the Quran

Wassalam sis, I'm a newbie too so say hello lol.

I used to read the Qur'an atleast once a week before but if I were to be honest with you I only read the Qur'an once in a while now.

After my exams have finished I'll have to try and read the Qur'an more regularly during the holidays to get into the habit of reading. I also have to get the english translation as it would be a nice change if I could understand what I was reading.

A few months ago i used to read quite a bit, now i must admit i hardly read much

but now i have more time on my hands, Inshallah i plan to read a little a day at least.

Shaykh Ul Islam has advised that in times of Fitna as we are seeing today, the only thing that will save us is the Quran.

and of that, there is no doubt

Welcome to the forum Sis. Its better to read a bit of the quran every day rather then not reading it at all.

I read the Qur’an every night after Isha.

I read it with meanings and almost never read more then two sides…its takes me about a year to get through the Qur’an.

I'm such a slow reader its embarrassing, also I havent as of yet managed to perfect my Tajweed yet :?

The Holy Qur’an is easy to understand because it reflects the experiences of mans inner self (Soul)…. Since the soul originates from Allah (swt) the Holy Qur’an awakens the spirit within it rather then invite in anything new.You really get into it once you start reading it with meanings.

Also, Shaykh Tahir ul Qadri said that if we attach ourselves to the Holy Qur’an…we can become closer to the Holy Prophet (saw), whose character is described by His wife Aisha (ra) as the embodiment of the Holy Quran.

A very good point there, i too have experienced this and wasnt sure why or how that happens, but that sums it up perfectly.

Whhich translations do you guys have? I have this one in my room i taxxed from Dawud, and its by a non-muslim, but its awesome....will get the authors name for next time

i go mosq to learn meanings of quran once every month-if that

I have Ibn Kathir's version, from what I have read it is simple to understand.

I need to start my daily routine of reading the Quran again, at times I get lazy but inshallah I will start from tonight!

Yusuf Ali's translation is easy to understand...and Ibn Katheer's tafseer (commentary) also helps to catch the exact meaning.
