While watching Prison Break, I was constantly flicking channels to BBC4 due to this programme. (If its available online, I will need to watch it fully...)
On to a number of claims. The three wise men? They were buddhists. APparently when a leader dies, they follow stars to find the reincarnated leader.
In childhood the child is taken away for teaching of the budhist ways. Apparently there is a reference in a budhist temple in tibet of a 'heavenly child called Eesa' who came from the land of Israel at the age of 14, and stayed til the age of 29.
This is apparently the age for which nothing is knowm about Jesus (as).
Well, lets just say I messed the rest, but after prtison break finished, I was able to catch 'and some believe this to be the tomb for the Prophet'. referring to some place in Kashmir...

From a lonk of the second site, It says Qadiyani was one of the first people to come out with this.
That is probably why I have never heard of it before.

What do sunni muslims think happened to Jesus? I understand you believe smoebody who looked like him was crucified and he ascended to heaven at some nebulous time... but in the intervening time?
dunno.
That is probably not too helpful, but some think I believe he was raised to the heavens as soon as Judas tried to 'mark' him.
Others think he stayed on earth for a bit longer, met his disciples... and tyhen was raised.
But to be honest, I dunno.
The bit I am really interested in is his 15 years before returning to Israel. That is fascinating. (both may be false, or one may, the truth of one of the times will not vindicate the truth of the other accounts...)

To be honest I had always assumed that the prophet Isa
was raised to the heavens when Judas marked him.
It was Ahmad Deedat from whom I heard the second 'theory'. (or was it someone who was explaining his points? I personally have not really listened to Ahmad Deedat much. Too short an attention span, and lack of enthuiasm in watching 'religious' videos...)
Again not studies this topic as part of islamic studies etc, just bits and bobs.
It really is a fascinating subject where I need to do some more study.

Out of curiosity do muslims find Deedat especially knowledgeable about Islam?
I've heard mixed reviews on Naik's understanding of Islam.
Some did.
His great work was the IPCI (Islamic Propagation Centre International), through which there was free distribution of Islamic literature.
I think most people liked him, and his speech was motivating, but about actual knowledge, I do not know.
He wrote alot of books, but again was self styled, I think.

Most Muslims believe that on the night before the
crucifixion, God miraculously substituted Judas for Jesus.
And, therefore, it was Judas who was actually
crucified for his betrayal of Jesus.
God then took Jesus up onto Himself. He is still alive in Heaven.
And during the Last Days, God will send him back to Earth in order to
establish Divine Rule. He will then proceed to slay all the
Jews, Christians, Athiests, Homosexuals, Evolutionists, Hindus,
Porn stars, Gypsies, Heavy Metal bands, and some other weirdos.
Apparently, Buddhists and Zen followers might be spared.

Dave, I heard Ahmad Deedat was kbnowledgable about sunnism, however don't know how much. Like if he was basic, very very good or Mujtahid Level.
Naik Is not so knowledgable on anything outside of comparative religeon, but the man has quite the memory.

I believe Ahmed Deedat and Zakir Naik are very intelligent people.
To be scholars in comparitive Religion, You gotta have knowledge on your own religion as well as other religions which you are comparing.
From what I've heard from their talks, they've done it very well. It funny cos I've already had a discussion about Z. Naik already today.
Most recent one I've seen is Dr Zakir Naik comparing Hinduism and Islam, it available on google video. Excellent talk. I heard a similar one by Ahmed Deedat, from which a few points Dr Naik reiterates in his recent event, but in much more detail.
From Ahmed Deedats, talk on Islam & Hinduism, I learnt the following phrase: "In Islam everything is God's. In Hinduism everything is God."
All that separates the two is the apostraphe S. Dr Naik, goes much further into the Vedas and other scriptures, to prove that the core principles of Hinduism are of a monotheist nature, not only that Muhammad(pbuh) has also been prophesised in the Hindu scriptures..
They two different characters, both have charisma in their own ways. Must've been years back, but still today, I find myself quoting Ahmed Deedat on his debates between Jimmy Swagart and the Shrosh guy.
