Straight Talking

We all know that the Jennifer Aniston hair cut is a must have for every girl. But how many girls here would consider permenant hair straightening? I'm tired of my using my GHD straightner every single morning. So what do you girls think of permenant hair straightening?

I can honestly, hand on heart, say it's the best beauty treatment I've ever had. Yes, it's expensive - prices start from £120, but long, particularly rebellious hair like mine would cost £380; yes, the long application process is quite literally a pain in the backside, but - boy - are the results worth it. And, as it only needs to be redone every six-to-eight months, it's a financial commitment I'm prepared to make. After all, I could spend that money on new clothes and make-up, but if my hair looked rotten, what difference would they make?

Curly hair looks disgusting I think. So how many of you would be willing to spend up to £500 on permenant hair straightening? And how many guys would spend this much money on their other half?
I'm just waiting for my student loan to come through before I pay for this treatment?
And how much would any of our be willing to spend to make yourself look more attractive? This includes the cost of gym memberships or make up.

We all know?...perhaps in some circles...the url says it all.

The student loan seems ethically dubious, and yet funny too.

Gym memberships? Don't think so, I'd do it the Rocky Balboa way, running up mountains with logs, racing on the beach, chasing chickens and the like.

:?

My hair is loosely curly…I used to blow dry the curls out when I was younger cos I hated them…today, sometimes I apply mousse to them or have it cut in certain way to define the curls.

Jennifer’s hair is very pretty…but which girl doesn’t style her hair like that.

I don’t think that a girl should permanently change any aspect of her appearance…but if you think it’ll make you look more attractive then that’s up to you.

Personally, I wouldn’t spend more than £100 over on hair….and that would only be if I was earning very good money and wanted to have a lot done..

I don't think there's anything wrong with joining the gym..I'd join if I could afford it.

salaam

If you wear hijaab whats the point in straightening the hair if no ones gonna see it? Are you implying that you normally wear the hijaab in every day life but dont wear it at 'special occations'?

lol he said if its usually curly then she straightens it, looks good, as opposed to it being constantly straight. anyway tut tut razor, y did u even notice that...

i think curly hair does suit some people. straight hair looks good too, but i would never spend that much money on it, and besides its not good for your hair in the long run. using a straightener every day isn't good for your hair either (coz of the heat)! its not worth messing up one's hair just to follow the latest trend. few months down the line jennifer aniston will curl her hair then that'll be the latest 'in thing'. i say have your own style, don't let others define it for you.

I agree. I don't even use a hair dryer anymore because of this reason...but its next to impossible to acheive the straight and sleek look without a hairdryer or a straightner.

Natural and healthy is def the best, regardless if its curly or straight.

Oh yeh, on the topic, curly hair is more fun to play with, whereas, the str8ened hair has this silky kinda feel to it also, if its silky str8. But, curly still hair is more fun.

No offence but I never wanted the jennifer aniston hair cut. I don't hate her just think her hairdo is so overrated what's so gorgeous about it?

I wouldn't spend more than 40 quid on a hair cut. I feel guilty for spending that much and that's like once a year. So 500 quid sounds so wasteful. Give me the money for an Umrah ticket please i'm saving up.

My mate was going on about Aniston's haircut when it was a big hype. I didn't even know who she was. When she showed me the cut I wasn't over awed by it. It's just a common cut, nothing wowza about it. As for her hair it's not naturally that glossy and that straight girls. She gets it styled to look like that, personal stylists darrling, that's what celebs have.

I've seen hundreds of girls with naturally straight glossy hair so Aniston and other celebs mean nothing to me.

If i want my hair styled I go by what I like, not what the celebs are doing. I'm not a sheep, i'm an individual with my own mind, likes and dislikes, I certainly wouldn't like to copy everything the media dictates to me. I know i'm beautiful. that's the attitude you need sister.

Who says curly hair isn't beautiful? I've always had straighter than straight hair. Curls don't last long in my hair without a product, and i just hate product residues. So i've become content with what I have, I make the best of that. No curlers, no straighteners, no implements of torture to change the great locks I have.

Curly hair is just as gorgeous. For some it may be unruly, so it means you just have to put a bit more time into it. As MS said mousse it now and again. Use a good conditioner to soften it up. There's lots of products on the market. I reckon you'd regret wasting so much money to have a permanent straight look. You were born with curls be proud of it.

You said name one person with curly hair that looks nice. Nicole kidman comes to mind. She has unruly curly hair, if you've ever seen pics of her in her early days? She often mousses her hair and her curls make her look gorgeous. The straight look just doesn't look so great on her.

Don't you think the straight look is something nearly every girl is after at the moment? Seems so dull and boring. I'm chopping my hair off just to make it look different don't wana look like all the highstreet robots.

The curls are a part of you make the most of them Wink

P.S Seraph we may wear headscarfs but we still wana look and feel good for ourselves, our family members and of course our hubbies. But if we feel like being slobs for a day we can be, without getting noticed oh the joys of the hijab Biggrin

The thing with artificially straightened hair is that sometimes it looks flat and greasy…especially if one has very thin hair in the first place.

I don't think every girl should straighten her hair..

But thick straight hair looks good.

Like yash said, it depends on the girl…personally; I don’t think I suit artificially straightened hair.

I'm SURE we all know a girl who looks good with her curly/wavy hair. Jennifer anniston herself went through a wavy hair mode, which looked good on her.

I've never spent more than £15 for a hair cut...and thats the "standard price" for a dry cut in a middle standard hairdresser...the cheap shops that don't care how much they whack of charge £8 for a dry cut...(I've had my hair messed up by them)....and places like Toni and Guy charge around £20 even if you just want a trim.

I think loose *curls* are pretty with girls who have dark hair... and you can definitely tell when naturally curly girls are straightening their hair - it looks fake.

*EDIT - freudian slip?

aherm its toni and guy prices...start from 25 quid for a restyle, and i admit i'm fussy so i want a senior stylist and they're usually 40 quid. No longer go Tonis that was pre hijab days. Now i've found a place with VIP room so i can get my hair done in privacy. This place is a little cheaper but not much..

40 quid once a year isn't really much is it? You're making me feel bad now :?

As for trims i wouldn't pay for them. I get anyone on hand to do them. Sister, friend, husband, or older brother. It's insane to even pay 10 quid just to get like 2 inches off the bottom of your hair, my mate pays it though, she must be losing it.

But guys cuts are normally easier. Most of you guys just have one length all over, number 1 or number 2. No barber could charge you 40 pounds for that even if they wanted to  If i could get my hair done cheap and good over here i would. I;m a small town girl though, don't live in a big city no such opportunities here.

My husbands pretty good at trimming hair. I had layers that were growing out. I told him to just trim the longer layer from the back leave the rest till i go to a stylist coz you might mess it up. He didn't tell me, he trimmed those too. But he did it at the right angle, i'm telling you i was impressed. This guy has the talent to start his own barber shop, he could style mens beards, i ain't letting him near women lol

Hijaab does save money though...

Pre-Hijaab I'd visit the hairdressers every six weeks without fail. And to cough up £15/20 for every haircut can end up being very expensive..

Now, the only time I have my hair cut is for Weddings/Eid...so thats about three times a year.

My vanity/general maintaince has also been cut down around 80%....I don't know if thats good or bad.
