I have been looking to get myself a new phone for a while now...

thing is gerenally I am pretty much a gadget freak.

The phone I was waiting for is the SE W950 or the K800... but I have been thinking that on my current phone I do not really use the memory or the camera or any other feature apart from internet...

So I have seen another phone that I think is pretty good.

However most people dislike it, and call it a calculator. On the other hand, I will be unique as others will not buy it... until they see it. and it has almost everything I need, is really thin (9mm, making it thinnest phone that is available):

Only catch is that the memory is not expandable. but that should not be a problem...

it has a wap browser. Can you get full internet on a wap browser? (I know you can through Opera mini... but normally?)

oh and a cool thing... the actuall wallet thing is a separate battery! just put your phone in it and it'll charge up the phone battery with it.

Got my calculator today. I am rather impressed with it. pretty cool.

But RoseAngle's post got me thinking.. even though the phone is free... I am sure I am still wasting far too much money.

Over the past year I would extimate I have wasted atleast 2 grand on pointless or careless endeavours. The actual amount could be less or more, as I have just taken into account some wholesale things where some money would have needed to be spent, but I have also not taken into account some other pointless endeavours as I have not recollected everything.

But that is still approximately £2,000 that could have been put to better use. (and that amount is just by wasting an average of around £5.00 a day...)

I could have been out of debt if I had not wasted that money. (well not talking about student loan... that don't count. Its too much to consider.), and I could have given loads in charity. instead I have given small measely nonsums, and penny-pinched in other places where money could have been wisely spent.

exactly, I mean sure you should treat yourself but when u look at the big picture ...do u reallyyyy need that nice looking fone? I doubt it, a simple fone will due. lol We spend our money on silly things somtimes and then when u think back u cant even remember what it was u spent it on. Donating the money is much more worthier cause

In times like this Admin.. you should lye down and clear your mind and then think of all the good times that money has bought you. The feeling of wasting money will pass.

Giving money to charity is a worthy cause but you must also realise that there will always be people with money and those with too little money and unfortunately we are not saints. People who have money will always spend money... thats kinda why we have money... to spend it.

And if you've earnt it honestly whats wrong with spoiling yourself a little? Im not saying dont give money to charity, do give money (its good 4 your soul) as much as you can.

I’ve always strongly believed that a person should spend according to their standard.

I’m totally anti getting into debt and I’m not a fan of hoarding ones money either.

So…if one can afford to spend money on themselves they should by all means.

Whenever I get money, I first put some aside for charity, I then put some aside for bills/travel expenditure/food etc…then I blow the rest on whatever I fancy.

London is an expensive place to live and I have spent ridiculous amount of money on clothes and food.

If I want something and I can afford it, I buy it…if I can’t afford it I go without. I’ve always wanted a designer handbag but I could never afford one cos they’re extremely over priced-as soon as I can afford it, I will buy one…I love driving and I spend a lot of time in my car, and even though there’s nothing actually wrong with my car, I’ve told myself that as soon as I’m earning decent money, the first thing I’m going to buy is a brand new car.

I’m paraphrasing here…but there is a hadith that states that one should show on themselves the blessings that Allah (swt) has bestowed upon them (obviously this doesn’t mean that one should show off).
