Alcohol And You
Salaam
The Holy Prophet ﷺ has cursed ten people in connection with wine: the wine-presser, the one who has it pressed, the one who drinks it, the one who conveys it, the one to whom it is conveyed, the one who serves it, the one who sells it, the one who benefits from the price paid for it, the one who buys it, and the one for whom it is bought.
How strict are you when it comes to alcohol? I’m sure most of us have never touched the stuff…however, how strict are you when it comes to avoiding all things relating to it?
A few weeks ago I was eating in a restaurant with a friend of mine, I had no idea that the restaurant I was eating in served alcohol because unlike most restaurants in Wimslow Rd Manchester, the restaurants in most parts of East London do not serve alcohol….my friend kicked up a fuss cos her coke was served in a beer glass, which made me wonder about this issue…..yeah, I know the glass was washed and most prob did not have even a drop of alcohol in it….but Muslims are supposed to keep away from all things associated with alcohol aren’t we?
This same mate of mine often starts on Muslims who sell/serve alcohol in their shops.
Asian’s a famous for owning the most corner shops…and it’s sad that many of these corner shops serve alcohol.
I don’t know what it is with alcohol…I know a sin is a sin, but for some reason alcohol consumption has always disgusted me the most.
If you were invited to a party/get together with work etc and you knew that alcohol would be served….would you attend?
If there was a meeting organised in a Pub… would you attend?
Would you have an issue with being in a room where a bunch of people are drinking?
Would you refuse to attend a wedding if you knew alcohol would be served?
OR would you refuse to not fly internationally ever (except for Saudi airlines or PIA)? Because plenty of people drink all around you on those flights...
I deleted it. I try not to allow baseless accusations and over generalisation to the extent of condemning a whole people.
It was a joke, and Latiifa would have understood it. Unlike most women she does have a brain. How could you delete something that would have made her smile!! So dictatorial of you.

Its this self righteous attitude why I mostly stay away from religious types. Noone has goven us the right to judge. We should leave that in the hands of Allah. And He (swt) will judge us all fairly without prejudice.
'religious types' wouldn't be 'self-righteous' in the first place. if they are they dont deserve to be called 'religious'. the truly 'religious' person would never concede that they fall into that category. anyway i dont like that title because piety is not summat that can be judged by man.
Religious people should not be like that, and true, proper religious people are not like that.
However there are people who are in between places.
Omrow, I do judge not by what others find funny/offensive but by what I think could be found to be offensive.

Fair point. Thank you. You're the Boss.
Alcohol And You
They did it to you again Omrow.
They are cutting you off in your prime.
Don’t let them. Fight the power.
I do hope you weren’t Turk bashing.
My cousins in Istanbul won’t have that.
Especially when they have been drinking.
Alcohol And You
Although i would like to say I wouldnt eat/drink or take a leak in a place that serves alcohol the truth is i spent a fair bit of time at the student union playing pool... and unfortunatley they did serve alcohol there. But i never touched the stuff and neither did my friends. We were only there to play pool.
Maybe i'll be damned for that... i dont know.
So to re-iterate: no drink, no serve, no buy, no make, no support, no encourage.
Alcohol And You
Drinking is a poor excuse to avoid one's problems and it only makes a person fall deeper into a hole that they've dug themself into. Human beings create so many of there own problems and drinking is more of a problem than a solution. Besides it smells horrible and it only numbs you from feeling and realizing the reality around you and of course its a sin. THere are so many wiser alternatives to alcohol, but one has to be motivated to find them.

This topics taken a twist.
Regarding the dodgy stuff doin but not eating pork or wateva. The way i c it. I used to be like that, id do one thing, but not drink or drugs or pork or steal or fraud etc.
But that way, it was easier for me personally to deal with the problem, cuz there was not many problems in me, there were a few, n ive still not completely eradicated them, im not perfected at all, but i kno if i was on drugs n alcohol etc, tryin to b a good muslim would b too hard for me to do.
So those who do one sin, but completely stay away from another, in all cases, wheteher they admit it or not, they kno what they do is wrong, n wudnt want to add to the sins.
So, for us to sit here n say its ironic or contradiction is jus plain wrong, v jus need to look at our own past to find a time wen we were in a similar situation. And, think, y did I not go ahead n commit this son aswell? When u can answer that question, then u can understand people commiting one sin n not the other.

Was he a naughty boy?" mommy will hav to tell kiddy that omrizzle indeed was avery naughty boy, he dint take women seriously, until one hit him in the face, Literizzeley.

My uncles work in restaurants that serve alcohol. I spend a lot of time with my friends just chilling after lectures in the student Union bar that serves alcohol.
As long as your not drinking it then there's nothing wrong with being in a place that serves alcohol. I'm sure everyone here shops or eats in Tesco's or Asda and that serves alcohol too.
