SPORTing the hijab. Lol. I like it.
The media, government, tried to blow us, but they can't out the flame, or doubt the name.
I used to be such a sporty girl in college/high school…but my hijaab actually stopped my interest and involvement in sports.
I have nothing against muslim women playing sports. But if they're playing with a view to getting to a professional level how would it work? I mean can you wear joggers for professional tennis in the uk? I don't know the dress rules but i've only ever seen women in skirts or shorts not joggers.
Isn't there a muslim girl in professional tennis? I'm sure there is some newbie.
If you wana do sports on a professional level but you're a practising muslim I don't see how it can practically work. It seems as if you'd have to compromise. It's keep the hijab or ditch it totally.
gymnastics...can't see women doing this in joggers. You wear leotards?
During my school years i wasn't wearing the hijab. I wore joggers for sports and t.shirts, or long armed tops on colder days.
I went swimming my parents never restricted it, i never saw nothing wrong with it. Although i felt really uncomfy with teachers pairing us off girl boy girl boy for activities :?,
I remember this niqabi girl sitting on the side. Coz i was so thick, i never knew why she never came swimming lol. I assumed she had some ailment which prevented her from swimming. I never thght for one minute it was coz it would violate hijab rules. I had never heard of the hijab back then.
Looking back these memories are shameful to me. How could i dress like that and think nothing of it :shock: How could my parents think nothing of it either?
A lot of school sports issues would be solved if muslim girls went to girls schools run strictly by women, or faith schools.
But i don't think the problem can be solved if women want to play sports on a professional level in say the olympics, do you?
[color=indigo]i love my sport n i wear the hijab n jilbaab, but i was lucky cause i went to an all girls school but we had male teachers there so it was a bit difficult to participate fully, before i wore the jilbaab properly i used to do physical education in my hijab but i remember we had dance lessons wiv a male teacher of course i never used to dance or take my hijab off in front of him but majority of the girls did n majority of the girls were Muslims but ppl didnt fight hard enuf i never used to turn up or when i did i refused to take my scarf off in his lesson i was sent up to my head of year and he wasd happy to hav me there
but this was four years ago and when i look at the school nw he is still there teaching all those lil sisters dance, n no1 does anythng bout the fact a guy is teaching Muslim girls dance [/color]

As part of my teachers traning I have to learn how to teach PE...I'll have to teach dance too...I'm dreading it. :?
i still dont get why dance is part of PE
and to think i did it too!!!

[color=indigo]lolz we had seperate dance and PE lessons so it was 1 hour of dance up until year 9 it was compulsory but year 10 n 11 i chose to do PE for my GCSE's so that was cool,[/color]
